I never played these 'NBA' Genesis games. Back in 1994 I was the only one in my college dorm with a 3DO (the $499 model that came with 'Madden,' 'Total Eclipse,' 'Road Rash' and an extra controller). After I bought Crystal Dynamics' 'Slam & Jam' and a couple of extra controllers to 'daisy-chain' together (remember that 3DO feature? ) that was it, my room was a zoo every night with people dropping at all hours of the night to talk trash and play 'Slam & Jam' (or 'Madden' when football season came around).
Anywho, are these Genesis basketball games still worth playing now? Or are they better left for nostalgia-soaked players that remember playing them ten years ago? I know the rosters are dated but is there still FUN to be had with these 16-bit veterans?
Absolutely - any game I give an A to is going to be fun no matter how old it gets. I still regularly play these with my friends, which is part of the reason why I end of re-reviewing them on a yearly basis!

Critic, have you ever played NBA Action 94? It's a Sega basketball game. It uses an engine kind of like Supreme Court, but much smoother and more realistic.
I didn't get it when it came out, but my local used game store had this "Games that we otherwise couldn't sell are 2 for a dollar" thing, so I got NBA Action 94 along with a bunch of other sports games and Hard Drivin'. It's sort of like the missing link between the early vs. games and Live.
Thanks for the tip! I like to review old sports games, and they're usually dirt cheap.
