[QUOTE=The Video Game Critic]The thing about retro/classic games is that are more than the sum of their parts. Simple concept, basic graphics, yet they keep you coming back time and time again.
Modern games are just the opposite. Huge worlds, realistic graphics, and surround sound, but it very often doesn't add up to much. When you're done you cringe at the thought of replaying it.
I'm generalizing, but I think you get the point.

I couldn't agree more. I was just trying to play Red Dead Redemption and just cannot bring myself to replay it. I remember when I first played it I thought I would NEVER get tired of it but 40 hours and one playthrough was all I could stomach. The game looks like a million bucks and is a A+ title all the way but I just can't see myself playing this one 10-15 years from now. It's just too hard to get back into because it's so complicated and in depth to a lazy gamer like me.
Meanwhile, I still play classics like Contra and Mega Man 2 several times a year and never get tired of them. I like modern games but they simply don't have the magic these NES titles have.
