Saints Row 3

Just got this recently and so far i'm loving it!  I've heard people complaining about it takes an hour for most games to get interesting, well worry not because SR3 dosen't waste anytime getting to the good stuff!  The first few missions are as insane as the last missions in most games are.  This game is every bit as crazy as you'd expect it to be, you can upgrade and customize EVERYTHING, and you can all do it from the menu screen.  The gameplay is as fun as ever, it's not dramatically different from the previous game, though it does have some improvements, such as the "awesome" meter(the Y button), which you can use to do things like hi-jack cars at the push of a button and the upgrade system(though I do miss being able to customize your crib).  Also, the game takes a page from Vice City by letting you purchase property and earn money from it, which makes it much easier to buy things.  The activities are a mixed bag, the new ones(especially the Running Man-esque one, forgot the exact name) are pretty cool, but the mainstay ones like Snatch, Mayhem, Escort and Trafficking haven't changed a whole lot since the first game, they're still fun, but it's hard not to miss other activities like Septic Avenger and Trailblazing.  Anybody else have this game?

Saints Row 3

Yes, this game is pretty fun. I think this game makes a good case for gamers like me who could care less if games are considered "art" or not. Game developers should worry about gameplay and entertainment value first, art a distant... ah who cares? Anyway, this game's good, simple enjoyment. I agree with the points you made Michael, and I'll add that the game not taking itself seriously is a good thing.
Probably my favorite new addition is the quick-hijack ability; I've only opened a car door twice in this game!

Got quite a bit further today, and I have to make a slight correction-trailblazing Is in the game only now it's different, it's done in the style of the light-cycle sequences in Tron Legacy and it's pretty damn fun!  My one complaint is that the story is a bit lacking compared to the previous games and feels sort of rushed, I hated that Johnny Gat was killed off-screen in the most contrived and anti-climactic way imagineable(I would've been fine with him dying if it happened late in the game and it was actually shown on-screen, then again maybe Volition has plans to bring back Gat in the DLC or something like that) and I also surprised to see Loren killed off so early, he's set up as this super-smart bad guy and ends up crushed to death by a freaking globe. Also, Killbane isn't a very interesting villain, he's a generic roid-rage super-freak who snaps at everything.  Also, i'm not that big on Shaundi's new VA and her new attitude to go along with it, I much prefered her in SR2, she's still likeable, but not nearly as funny as she was in the last game.  The new characters are a mixed bag, I like Kenzie, Angel and Oleh, but Zimos with his auto-tune voice gets annoying after awhile.  i'm still enjoying the game, but after reading about it's development history and some of the scrapped content in the game(in one ending, you actually save Gat from the Syndicate) I just have the lingering feeling that it could've been better.

Saints Row 3

As a huge fan of Saints Row 2, I went into this one expecting an A+ title but so far it's been a bit of a letdown. The map is hard to use, the controls aren't as smooth, the city feels lifeless and the graphics are 2007 quality at best. Still I don't want to be too negative: it's a very fun, over the top game that lets you just have fun! . We'll see once I play a little more but I do appreciate the fact that you can easily go off the beaten path and take down half the Army singlehandedly after doing some wrestling moves on random pedestrians!
