Re: How Prince of Persia Defeated Apple II's Memory Limitations | War Stories | Ars Technica

I agree this is a really fascinating documentary. I didn't realize the guy who did Prince of Persia also did Karateka. And apparently I've been pronouncing Karateka wrong (I put accent on first "ra"). I can definitely relate to what the guy was talking about programming wise. You had to d...

Re: Modded Genesis Mini

I’m frustrated because I really want to mod my Sega mini, but I can’t find any tutorials for Mac owners, and I am so awful with tech stuff that I need the step-by-step. I was going to do the same thing with the Genesis Mini that I did with the NES/SNES, which involved sending it away to somebody to ...

Re: Sega Game Gear Micro

I’m a sucker for mini consoles, but almost everything about this is stupid. The price is obnoxious for what little they’re offering ($30 less than the SNES Mini, which had 17 more games that not only held up far better, but are bonafide classics), the size is prohibitively small, releasing 4 variati...

Re: Double Dragon 1-3 (NES)

I’ve always felt that I was in the vast minority in that I loved DD3 on NES more than the other two. The first game had so many glitches, and I hated that only two enemies would appear at a time. Also, whose bright idea was it to include protruding bricks that had no rhyme or reason? I remember gett...

Re: Anyone receiving the TurboGrafx-16 Mini next week?

I received mine this morning and, after spending a couple of hours with it, here are my impressions so far: -Moto Rotor (F): this game is a piece of crap. I don’t get it. Blazing Lasers (A): Insanely fun shmup! Lords of Thunder (A-): deeper than most shmups I’ve played. Killer soundtrack! Really dif...

Re: Anyone receiving the TurboGrafx-16 Mini next week?

My daughter and I have gotten so much mileage out of last year’s Sega Mini, so I’m all about this, especially once I found out that M2 was behind it. My only complaint is the tease that is Snatcher. I’m sure that Konami understands how many people would love to be able to play the game without fork...

Re: Stone Temple Pilots

Surprisingly, their new stuff is really solid, especially their new album which is more acoustic based. The guy who ended up replacing Scott (and, if you want to get technical, Chester) does an awesome job filling those shoes.

Re: Final Fantasy VII Remake (PS4)

I’m about six hours in, and.....I don’t know how they pulled it off! As a fan of the original, I can honestly say that they recaptured the same magic as the 97 release, which is incredible because it’s an entirely new experience.

Re: Joker Movie Sucks

This raises an interesting point. How do you rate movies? I tend to rate them as I do video games. Was it fun to watch? Was I entertained? Artistic merit could be a factor but it's wouldn't be an overriding factor. In this case, I just sort of cringed through the whole thing, waiting for it to end....
