Best retro co-op games to play with kids?

I try to have my nieces and nephews (ranging in ages 4 to 10) over a few times during the summer and our attention inevitably turns to the game room. The arcade/pinball machines and PS4 get the most attention, but I’d like to get them playing some of the classics too. I used to give them classic sin...

Re: 2019/6/7: Genesis: Last Battle, Paperboy II

Finally got around to popping Paperboy II into my Genesis, inspired by this review. I had fun with it- this is definitely the best console version of Paperboy that I’ve played so far. It doesn’t reinvent the formula- it just enhances it. Not much is different, but I like it that way. If I’m playing ...

Re: 2019/7/14: Wii U: Rodea the Sky Soldier, Shovel Knight

I bought Rodea a while back at the recommendation of other members on the forum. I heard that it was produced by Yuji Naka - who also produced NiGHTS into Dreams (Saturn), and other great Sega games - and that it was sort of a spiritual successor to NiGHTS into Dreams. Since NiGHTS is one of my 5 or...

Re: Nintendo Switch Lite announced

A good idea for the budget-minded crowds - especially kids at Christmas time. $200 is a lot easier for most non-gamer parents to justify for their kids' video game systems, rather than $300. But for the rest of us, I can't see enough benefit to this that warrants getting one.

Re: 2019/7/9: Nintendo Switch: Golf Story

Been looking forward to this review - thanks for posting it. I own Golf Story - the only Switch game I own, even though I don't own a Switch. I bought the Limited Run Games physical release version when it came out, for two reasons: (1) the premise so intrigued me that I felt like I would want to tr...

Re: Anybody Else Try Retrobright?

Yeah, like the others, I had never heard of this before and I'm pretty amazed by it. I never realized that the yellowing could be cured. Thanks for sharing this. EDIT: After being amazed by this, I started googling it a little bit and found a good tip: For those willing to pay a little extra for con...

Re: Spyro: Season of Ice (GBA)

I never knew there were portable Spyro games. There’s at least 6 or so different portable Spyro games, most released during the 2000s decade. Some might be decent, but none are worth writing home about. After the successful initial trilogy, they began saturating the market with inferior Spyro games...

Re: 2019/7/4: Atari XEGS: Frogger II: Threedeep!, Pitfall

I’ve always felt like Frogger II: Threedeep! is the most confusing game name ever. Why have the word “three” in the title for the second game in the series? Threedeep doesn’t even make much sense for the game- they couldn’t pick something else?? When I first heard of the game years back, I read the ...

Re: MLB The Show 19 (Playstation 4)

Despite my complaints above, this has become my main game played so far this summer. I play it a few times each week, and I keep going back to it. I might even be appreciating baseball a bit more than usual this summer, as a result. So far, I played a full season of the March to October mode. Good m...

Re: Ever buy a console for one specific game?

Good question. A few that come to mind: N64 - Goldeneye Xbox - Halo PS3 - Metal Gear Solid IV Wii U - Zelda: Breath of the Wild Probably the biggest in there was Halo. I bought the system the week it came out in 2001, just for that game. I actually played a little bit of Halo this past weekend, and ...
