Re: Did the Critic ever do a “best soundtracks” list?

Rygar DOES deserve double mention. My recent favorites have been Axiom Verge, Alwa's Awakening, and Hollow Knight. My past favorites have always been Mega Man 2, Castlevania and Simon's Quest, and NES Sunsoft games like Blaster Master, Gremlins 2, and Journey to Silius. 8-bit and 16-bit style music ...

Re: 2019/4/20: Nintendo Switch: Hollow Knight

I'm normally right there with you, but Hollow Knight was probably harder for me to stop playing than any game since Half Life 2. I honestly didn't want it to end, and I got halfway through the Godmakers part before I realized I just wasn't good enough to beat it. I'm actually about ready to start th...

Re: My beloved Nintendo just gave me my first EA experience in gaming...

Can somebody explain to me the thinking behind Nintendo going this route and taking such a PR hit?? Nintendo was very clear when they released the Switch: they wanted it to be a "family system", as in "they wanted each member of the family to buy one". This was first mentioned i...

Re: What are you playing while stuck at home?

Hollow Knight (PS4) is my main game right now. 50+ hours into the game. Also: -Lonely Mountains: Downhill (PS4) {a great retro-y mountain biking game} -Asura’s Wrath (PS3) -Doom, the original, but on PS4. Just bought it and played for awhile- because it’s available for $3 on PS4. It’s been about 25...

Just picked up Metro Redux on the Switch for 40 bucks at Walmart.

I like the idea of a roll of toilet paper to signify the genre...

Re: My beloved Nintendo just gave me my first EA experience in gaming...

I forgot to mention that review bombing is specifically leaving a 0/10, perfectly negative review, in order to ruin the curve... No, it's a coordinated campaign of negative reviews by people who have not necessarily played a game (or seen a movie, etc.) but have some grievance against it. The "...

I'm excited to watch the new lighting engines - this may be the generation where we finally achieve the dream of real time cinematic results. Real time raycasting? That seemed impossible only a decade ago. Especially since, if we're realistic, simulating light bounces uses a lot of resources; how m...

Re: My beloved Nintendo just gave me my first EA experience in gaming...

Yep, do it. Submit a terrible review. Best case they come out with a patch for it. Does any of the content get saved to the memory card, ie you could buy X copies of it and share the single Switch or is it really and truly a 1:1 pairing between Switch and game? (I'm not suggesting it's feasible or ...

Re: My beloved Nintendo just gave me my first EA experience in gaming...

Hmmmm.... MetaCritic is only a click away... do I dare submit to my own hypocrisy? There's nothing hypocritical about leaving a negative review of a game that you have bought and played. That's not review bombing; it's just a review. I forgot to mention that review bombing is specifically leaving a...
