Re: 2019/7/30: NES: Talespin, T&C Surf Designs II: Thrilla's Surfari

I grew up in Oregon, and that water also made me enjoy T&C Surf Design as a sort of mild fantasy, never to happen in my home state.

Re: Games to play after work

I completely agree on the value of gaming for the specific purpose of relaxing after work. I'm 42 and I run my own business, so my days vary in length and intensity. Sometimes the best thing I can do to remain enthusiastic is to think about how great it will be to relax with a game at the end of the...

Re: 2019/7/14: Wii U: Rodea the Sky Soldier, Shovel Knight

I would like to nominate that picture for "Picture that gives you the least amount of an impression of what the game is like". Looks like someone left the shutter of the camera open too long and it made the screen look like a blurry mess. I have absolutely zero idea what kind of game this ...

Re: First CD versus vs First Streaming Consoles

Very fitting topic as the Ouya servers just went offline effectively rendering them semi-functional (and new old stock or factory reset ones as paperweights). I'm still annoyed by this - I actually like the Ouya. I liked the Ouya too. I think, besides a less than optimal controller, it's main downf...

Re: Should Yooka-Laylee have the controversial icon or no?

Most "controversy" these days is phony outrage fueled by a handful of people with a hash tag, and is only there to draw clicks and views to websites. The quicker you ignore it, the quicker it goes away.

Re: 2019/6/18: Nintendo Switch: Sonic Team Racing

I thought Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed was fantastic so its sad to hear this one falls below the last effort. Still the score is not bad so I'll check it out when it comes down in price. I wonder if there will be a patch on it's way to improve the 4-player splitscreen. I imagine the Xbox and ...

Re: Anyone else totally underwhelmed by Cuphead?

But haven't review rubrics been around since the mid-90's? Different people have different tastes; you're not obligated to like everything critics praise. Might be that critics have played so many games they're looking for something different. That makes a lot of sense. There used to be a ton of pl...

Re: Anyone else totally underwhelmed by Cuphead?

Very good point. Probably one of the gaming downfalls of our hyper-critical online society.

Re: Anyone else totally underwhelmed by Cuphead?

I feel like this about a lot of games now. I think, ‘am I missing something?’, and ‘why did this get such good reviews’. Maybe it is just my age (42). My Switch is filled with older games and remasters. I don’t want to sound like a grumpy old smeg though. Pretty much exactly where I am and what I a...
