Re: Top Gear (SNES)

I haven't played this game since the 90's so my recollection is a little vague, but this was one of the few racing games I've enjoyed over the years. Correct me if I'm wrong Alucard, but the racing style was more arcade (driver friendly) than realistic like Gran Turismo?

Re: Very hard games that were intended for young children

Taz-Mania for the Genesis is almost unbeatable on anything but Easy mode. You are constantly forced to make leap-of-faith jumps to platforms you can't see and bottomless pits are instant deaths on any difficult other than Easy (where you just take damage and are propelled back onto the air). There'...

Re: Very hard games that were intended for young children

TaleSpin, Marsupilami, and The Lion King are a few examples that come to mind. I also remember hearing that Barbie on the NES is unexpectedly difficult. Never played Barbie, but I am impressed by the size of the player sprite. It looks like it's using the Dragons Lair engine.[/quote] My wife owned ...

I hear you can make it all the way up the tech tree to faking a moon landing. I hope that's true!

Re: Last Blockbuster in America

If you rent one movie a week, & if you return it on time, a movie rental place is cheaper than Netflix. If you're in the South there's still Family Video. https://www.familyvideo.com/ You can find Family Videos in the midwest too fortunately. My father-in-law is there almost every day. Was Holl...

Apparently the last blockbuster has a Twitter feed that's pretty funny. You should check it out.

Re: Light gun games

I think another reason for those big guns was the "bigger is better" mentality of that era. . This. I was going to put something similar to this sentiment. It was kind of a reflection of the 90's wanting to go "more extreme!" I think. Sure, that little zapper from the NES was al...

Re: Return of Toejam and Earl?

To me the original Toejam & Earl is an example of one of the best parts of classic video gaming, bringing back those nostalgic moments from when we were younger. I remember the first time I played this game when my Mom rented it for me and a friend for a sleepover. We didn't beat it, but the gam...

Minor typo, but in the Valis review I believe you said umbue instead of imbue.
