Re: Anyone else totally underwhelmed by Cuphead?

But haven't review rubrics been around since the mid-90's?

Different people have different tastes; you're not obligated to like everything critics praise. Might be that critics have played so many games they're looking for something different.

Still playing this. Stuck on mission 4. It's hard to aim at an enemy right below you.

Re: The GBA is basically the love child of SNES and the Sega 32X hardware?

Ironic considering both the 32X and Atari Jaguar both where hard to develop for to get optimal results. And what other buggy support it had besides scrolling, shading, etc? I think it could do sprite-scaling. It did not have build-in support for texture maps; those had to be done with software. Ata...

Re: List of Video Game Websites?

Over the years Wikipedia's notability guidelines have changed. Three mentions used to be enough for something to be considered notable; now you need several people to write about you, & Wikipedia must consider them significant enough to cite. Problem is, Wikipedia itself competes against other i...

Re: Google Stadia is Dead on Arrival!

I remember the Phantom, but I was more interested in DISCover, which actually got released on a few gaming PCs. I can see a streaming console working if it's just downloading level packs, but I can't see a server farm successfully rendering thousands of games for thousands of players at the same time.

Re: The GBA is basically the love child of SNES and the Sega 32X hardware?

One way way to describe it, is that the GBA is a better designed 32x that requires just half the cpu power to achieve similar performance, or even better. Seriously, who knows what Sega was thinking with the 32x, beyond "Now this is podracing!"? Sure, it's exciting to see what two 32 bit ...

Re: Celeste (2018) - just another overrated indie game

But I'm surprised to hear you say Cuphead is "very creepy" looking. I'm not too surprised; a lot of people find that old rubber-hose animation style creepy. It's sometimes stiff & uncanny-valley-ish. Then the animators decide to add a bunch of surreal elements... https://www.youtube.c...
