Re: Lakers vs. Celtics and the NBA Playoffs (Sega Genesis)

This is by far one of my favorite games. Of course knowing that the CPU does position by position matchups, I would (and still) cheat a bit by playing as the Bulls and switching Michael Jordan to be the center. It looks hilarious when he is standing next to the other center but he runs circles aroun...

Re: Making the site easier to read?

Criticism is never easy to digest even when it's constructive. So first, kudos on taking the initiative for looking to modernize and revamp your site. There will always be people who hate when things change. These are the people who go nuts on twitter every time Facebook tweaks their interface a lit...

Re: Best Console Design Decisions

I'm going to say the standard 9-pin joystick port which started life on the Atari 2600 and 8-bit line of computers, made its way to other computers like the Commodore series, newer consoles like the Sega Genesis, and all the way up to the 3DO and more recent Flashback consoles. A lot of versatility ...

Re: AVGN: Mortal Kombat reviews

The Tattoo Assassins segment had me cracking up -- and seeing the AVGN cover Shadow: War of Succession was a treat. That one is a real candidate for the title of "worst officially-released console game I've ever played". I don't know - that Kangaroo thing he just reviewed for the CD32 or ...

Re: Favorite Atari 2600 Console Variant?

For me it's a tie between the 2600 Jr. and the Sears Telegames II (both pictured in this forum post). I love the compact look and design of the Jr. along with the fact that it is pretty portable and can fit almost anywhere. For the Telegames II, I like the controllers which were a combination joysti...

Re: NBA2k20 on TV

Was it a CPU vs CPU match or two actual players? For some reason I imagined the former, but these days it would probably be more common for two eSports players to have a televised game. Oddly, I find the whole concept of eSports in general more ludicrous than a major network like NBC airing a full ...

NBA2k20 on TV

So here's one for you that I guess is video game related. Given the fact that all professional sports have been cancelled due to the Corona virus outbreak, I was surprised to see a NBA game on tonight while flipping through channels. It was being broadcast on NBC Sports Philly and upon closer review...

Re: 2020/3/25: Turbografx-16: Battle Royale, Tricky Kick

You're a little hard on Battle Royale. It's certainly not perfect but it does have some novel ideas. The manager scramble on the character select screen is unique. The premise of the game is to throw your opponents out of the ring over the top rope (because it's a Battle Royale - hence the name). Fo...

Re: Reconsidering Neo Geo CD reviews

You have always based your reviews subjectively on how "fun" a game is for you and your friends to play. Extended loading times would definitely impact that fun leading to lower scores so I think it's fair to mention and factor the loading times into the games. I am not sure I would split ...
