Re: What was your best goodwill video game find?

Not Goodwill, but I snagged a pallet-load of TI-99/4A computers, software, voice modules, and expansion boxes for around $30 at a barn sale back in 2003. By the time I sold off/traded everything, I ended up around $2800 and one Battlezone arcade machine richer. Those expansion boxes snagged $200-$30...

Re: Nostalgic and/or Favorite Video Game Mags

I grew up in the era of mid-70s to mid-80s arcades, so I'm partial to the old magazines. The May 1982 issue of Electronic Games really sticks out in my mind, as it was the very first video game magazine purchase I made with my newspaper route (remember those?) money, and I wore it out by reading it ...

Re: Berzerk or it's sequel Frenzy?

An interview with the late Alan McNeil (died December 2017), who designed and programmed both Berzerk and Frenzy coin-ops, as well as Maze Wars for the Mac and the original Macromedia Director, from his now-offline site- https://web.archive.org/web/20180405131536/http://a9k.info/qna.html

Re: Heavy metal!

I'm just going to dump some stuff I've liked for a while:<snip> Lots of great, classic stuff in your list. Brutal Truth's Need to Control is an all-time classic album, and I can't say enough great things about Godflesh and JK Broadrick's myriad of other projects. Pitch Shifter is another one to che...

Re: Heavy metal!

I saw Ozzy in concert with Metallica supporting their Master of Puppet's album. I was pretty young then. It was my second concert. Before the show I remember some guy started kicking and punching his seat (probably high on drugs), eventually tearing it off the hinges. He raised it up and everybody ...

Re: 2018/4/3: Arcadia 2001: Parashooter, Golf

My folks picked one of these up as a door prize at a timeshare presentation, with five games, back in '83. I traded it for a Colecovision, but now I wish I had kept it. It's such an oddball that I would definitely enjoy owning one again.

Re: 2018/3/2: Lynx: APB, Gordo 106

APB was never ported very well to any console or computer. The original arcade game, which was designed and programmed by Dave Theurer of Tempest and Missile Command fame (as well as a team of others that helped him), had a perfectly balanced control scheme with its steering wheel and gas pedal. I'v...
