Re: Heavy metal!

I'm just going to dump some stuff I've liked for a while:<snip> Lots of great, classic stuff in your list. Brutal Truth's Need to Control is an all-time classic album, and I can't say enough great things about Godflesh and JK Broadrick's myriad of other projects. Pitch Shifter is another one to che...

Re: Heavy metal!

I saw Ozzy in concert with Metallica supporting their Master of Puppet's album. I was pretty young then. It was my second concert. Before the show I remember some guy started kicking and punching his seat (probably high on drugs), eventually tearing it off the hinges. He raised it up and everybody ...

1) Terrorizer - World Downfall 2) Van Halen - 1984 3) David Lee Roth - Eat 'Em and Smile Excellent choices, especially the first one (R.I.P. Jessie Pintado). Here are mine (in no particular order, and no genre discrimination other than "metal"): 1. Carcass- Heartwork and Surgical Steel (b...

Re: 2018/4/3: Arcadia 2001: Parashooter, Golf

My folks picked one of these up as a door prize at a timeshare presentation, with five games, back in '83. I traded it for a Colecovision, but now I wish I had kept it. It's such an oddball that I would definitely enjoy owning one again.

Re: 2018/3/2: Lynx: APB, Gordo 106

APB was never ported very well to any console or computer. The original arcade game, which was designed and programmed by Dave Theurer of Tempest and Missile Command fame (as well as a team of others that helped him), had a perfectly balanced control scheme with its steering wheel and gas pedal. I'v...

Re: My job sucks because...

FusekiGames, thank you for sharing your story. I have worked in the service industry in one capacity or another since I was 15 years old and I can attest to everything you have written. I eventually got out of restaurants and moved to hotels. I have nothing but the utmost respect for chefs who put ...

Re: My job sucks because...

I dishwash. The people and benefits are nice (I get free food), but it's dishwashing. It's gonna suck. I'm probably the highest paid dishwasher on the planet, as its part of my job and all of the chefs that work under me. There's no such thing as being too good to wash dishes in my kitchen, and no ...

Re: My job sucks because...

My entire career, pre and post coin-op amusements operator and pool hall/arcade owner, has sucked. My degreed profession is as a chef, and I burned out early (1997), so I went into business with a friend of mine for about 6 years. He has been in coin-op all of his life (and still is), and I was task...

Re: King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters

Every time I see Billy Mitchell, the song (Highway to the) Danger Zone pops into my head... http://atari.vg-network.com/public/loggins.jpg I hated the movie myself, but there is something about video game documentaries that don't involve the companies and programmers that created the games that I de...

Re: Obscure Systems

Thanks Fusemigames. I kept meaning to answer Sut's query, but I hadn't yet. Also, those Video Pinball Units are not expensive, so if the resistor surgery doesn't pan out, maybe you can snag the woodgrain model. The surgery should be successful, as I've tested it extensively, found the bad one, and ...
