Re: Can't beat classic hockey

I've honestly never been a huge hockey fan, but I will say that when Nintendo put out their NES games on the Switch, I found myself absolutely hooked on Ice Hockey. So simple, but it worked so well! And apparently that's not even the best retro hockey game on the NES!

Re: New local multiplayer games

Anyone here try Killer Queen Black? I played it obsessively online when it first came out on Switch, but haven't touched it in a couple months. Definitely a fun game, and I think I've heard that after some updates it actually supports 4v4 local play on one system.

Do you think the Critic would enjoy Monster Hunter World despite his review for MH3U?

I'll admit, I'm part of those "legions of gamers" that like the Monster Hunter games, both old and new. That said, I'll be the first to acknowledge how archaic the games were prior to World. Honestly, most of Dave's complaints about MH3U were pretty valid, and a lot of them were finally fi...

Re: 2020/2/5: Xbox One: Ori and the Blind Forest

Yeah, there's always going to be games that I like that the Critic doesn't. Off the top of my head, I recall being disappointed by his reviews of F-Zero GX, The Orange Box, and Monster Hunter 3 - I just love those games so much that I can't understand why he'd give those first two "C" grad...

Re: What was the challenge you just couldn't beat, no matter how hard you tried?

I tried Dark Souls 3, and honestly really liked it at first, including the challenge. But then I spent six hours retrying the Abyss Watchers fight. SIX hours repeating the same 5 to 10 minutes, over and over again. I then started thinking about how this was early in the game, so it was only going t...

Re: Unpopular Gaming Opinions

I actually enjoy rubberband AI in racing games. It keeps me engaged in the game. If I get too much of a lead, there's no challenge. If I mess up and crash, I want to still have a chance to comeback. On a different note, I really don't care whatsoever for character customization. It's like going to a...

Re: Best Game--Every Decade

Cool idea, but a tough one to decide. Honestly, my opinions on this might change based on my mood on any given day. 70s - probably Galaxian 80s - Mario 3. That one really wrapped up the decade nicely 90s - Mario 64. This was just such a game changer and really showed that 3D gaming was the future 00...

Re: Your favorite Board Games

I love a good game of chess. The challenge is always finding someone at a similar skill level, because those are the best games. I also like playing some Dominoes. Luck is a huge factor in dominoes, so it's a fun one to play when you don't want to get too serious. With friends, we play a lot of Tick...

Re: Your favorite pinball games

I had a pinball machine in my basement growing up. Unfortunately, somehow the main circuit board up by the scores went mysteriously missing and it no longer works. The game was called The Flash, but it was based on some original ideas rather than the comic book hero. It was a Williams table, and wa...
