Re: Stone Temple Pilots

I love STP, definitely my favorite band from the "grunge" era, even though I wouldn't exactly call STP grunge. On a good day, Weiland was one of the absolute best frontmen out there, and was a unique singer in general. All their albums were unique in their own ways, with the Deleo brothers...

Re: Best Roguelikes?

I love a good Roguelike. Honestly, they might be one of my favorite genres. Endlessly replayable, a focus on gameplay over story, you get better at the game by playing it, not memorizing levels. They're good for a quick fix but it's super frustrating when you make it far into a game only to have it ...

Re: Splatoon 2 (okay, so I caved)

Bumping this thread because there's a free demo going on right now for this game and I finally checked it out. I honestly only had minimal interest in this game. I hate to say it, but it seemed very "For kids only!" Plus, there's plenty of other games I want for the system that I haven't g...

Re: Can someone explain Xbox name series?

Let's not forget Microsoft's naming of Windows!

1, 2, 3, 3.1, 95, NT, 98, 2000, ME, XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10

It honestly just seems like they don't have an overall vision, at least for marketing purposes.

Re: Can't beat classic hockey

I've honestly never been a huge hockey fan, but I will say that when Nintendo put out their NES games on the Switch, I found myself absolutely hooked on Ice Hockey. So simple, but it worked so well! And apparently that's not even the best retro hockey game on the NES!

Re: New local multiplayer games

Anyone here try Killer Queen Black? I played it obsessively online when it first came out on Switch, but haven't touched it in a couple months. Definitely a fun game, and I think I've heard that after some updates it actually supports 4v4 local play on one system.

Do you think the Critic would enjoy Monster Hunter World despite his review for MH3U?

I'll admit, I'm part of those "legions of gamers" that like the Monster Hunter games, both old and new. That said, I'll be the first to acknowledge how archaic the games were prior to World. Honestly, most of Dave's complaints about MH3U were pretty valid, and a lot of them were finally fi...

Re: 2020/2/5: Xbox One: Ori and the Blind Forest

Yeah, there's always going to be games that I like that the Critic doesn't. Off the top of my head, I recall being disappointed by his reviews of F-Zero GX, The Orange Box, and Monster Hunter 3 - I just love those games so much that I can't understand why he'd give those first two "C" grad...

Re: What was the challenge you just couldn't beat, no matter how hard you tried?

I tried Dark Souls 3, and honestly really liked it at first, including the challenge. But then I spent six hours retrying the Abyss Watchers fight. SIX hours repeating the same 5 to 10 minutes, over and over again. I then started thinking about how this was early in the game, so it was only going t...
