Re: 2019/11/15: Sega Master System: California Games, Streets of Rage

Yes, the NES version does. (And I assume the others as well.) There’s several other companies too, besides just the ones you see in that screenshot. Casio, Milton Bradley, and Kawasaki for example. In fact, at the beginning of the game you select what sponsor you want to play for. Wooooooow. How co...

Re: Is this me or is Dave the Video Game Critic not crazy about the 8th gen as a whole?

This site is just one fellow writing about the spoils of his hobby... Meant for mild entertainment and nothing more. This. The end. Tread carefully, Sonic. I understand you have questions that you want answered, but I'm not sure that calling out the administrator of this website by name is the best...

Re: 2019/11/15: Sega Master System: California Games, Streets of Rage

I absolutely *love* the old ads in that screenshot for California Games. I'm guessing there was some legit sponsoring / product placement going on there, as the 8-bit representations of the Santa Cruz, OP, and Spin Jammer logos are pretty spot-on, especially given the limited resolution and color pa...

Re: Fighting Baseball on Super Famicom

While I'm pretty ignorant about what systems can play what games from what regions, I do know that, based on that screenshot alone, this game needs a review, PRONTO!! ...although there is a pretty glaring error in that list. It's a baseball game, right? Sheesh, people - everybody knows that Sleve &q...

Re: 8th gen systems.

Hey, Matt, thanks for posting your question. I know you asked The Critic directly for his input and not anyone else, but since a few others have chimed in, I figured I'd give you my two cents, too. In short, I wouldn't buy any of the new systems. I, too, don't have a lot of time to game, and am also...

Re: Scaled down arcade cabinets

Glad to hear you've had a good experience with your machines, noah98. More time has gone by, and man, do I ever love that MK II machine. I have no space to really add more to my home at the moment, but that doesn't mean I don't want more in the future. Also glad that you managed to put together your...

Re: 100 Hour RPGs?

My biggest knock against games with a massive playlength is that they're just so hard to replay from the beginning. I made this observation on another forum topic, but I'd be so much more willing to replay a classic Final Fantasy or Dragon Warrior game (among others) if I could just "fast forwa...

Re: Any Beastie Boys fans?

The following year when I bought Bum Rush The Show from public enemy, I fell in love with the genre. I couldn't agree more, sir. I found the Beastie Boys to be a little too grating (though I consider Hello Nasty a guilty pleasure) and I liked Run-DMC all right (especially their debut album and King...

Re: N64 Games That Stand The Test Of Time

Agreed, sir. A "casual racer," it is not. In that respect, F-Zero X is a much, much better entry point for a newcomer the series. GX's challenge level is so high, I can absolutely understand how it can turn people off or scare them away too early. I guess it came out at just the right time...

Re: N64 Games That Stand The Test Of Time

I will Second F-Zero X per JWK's recommendation. Stands tall today and is more fun than the game that came out on the Gamecube. https://cynthiamvoss.files.wordpress.com/2016/02/yrkgd.jpg?w=320 In my mind, there is no universe or timeline that exists in which F-Zero X is a better game than F-Zero GX...
