Re: 2019/6/7: Genesis: Last Battle, Paperboy II

Last Battle makes more sense when one plays the Japanese version and is familiar with Fist of the North Star . Overall, I feel it's inferior than Master System's Fist of the North Star/Black Belt . Paperboy 2 is somewhat of a personal guilty pleasure despite being a good game. I'm not a fan of Pape...

Re: 2019/5/4: SG-1000: Golgo 13, James Bond 007

As a hadcore fan of both James Bond and Golgo 13, I think this post fits me like a glove. However, I still have to play the SG-1000 version of Golgo 13, so I'll go with Bond. Like all the versions of the Parker Bros. game, this one sucks royally. It's a shameless Lunar Lander clone with some random ...

Re: 2011/2/22: Genesis: Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3

Sonic the Hedgehog was one of my first four MD titles. And, man, it still shines. Playability-wise, it's a direct and simple game while having awesome technical features: it was fast, extremely beautiful and had an awesome soundtrack. Sonic 2 improved on the formula. Tails, my favourite video game c...

Re: 6/15/2007: NES: Duck Hunt, Hogan's Alley, Wild Gunman

Because I have a modern NES clone AND play on LCD TVs, my experience in these games is via emulation and a Wiimote. I really like them, but it's true that their cult status is very much caused by the context at the time the NES came out, as a, well "electronic toy that plays on TV".

Re: Do your parents like video games?

My mother used to play Columns on our Mega Drive, and many years later she got started again with the Wii. Nowadays we play quiz games like Buzz or the ones that use PlayLink on the PS4. My father sees video games as a form of art he doesn't understand nor likes to play, but loves to look at. He pla...

Re: 2017/10/4: Genesis: Addams Family, The, Tinhead

Wow, I DO love The Addams Family on the MD! It's one of those nifty Euro-platformers by Ocean with all kinds of everything out to get you and end your puny existence. The very kind of game we Eurogamers were used to. Graphically pleasant if quite simple, with a Gómez that looks very much like John A...

Re: 2015/1/18: Odyssey 2: K.C. Munchkin!, Demon Attack, Amok!

I've played K.C. Munckin 4 or 5 times using the O2EM emulator, and, people, it must be said: Ed Averett was a master programmer. This guy took the better of the Odyssey 2 limitations to make several masterpieces, and this is one of them. In fact - and taking into account that at the time there were ...

Re: 2016/1/19: Bally Astrocade: Checkmate, Incredible Wizard, The

I became acquinted with Wizard of Wor back in the PS2 times, as it was included on Midway Arcade Classics 2 . I enjoyed it quite a lot, and was still fresh in my mind when I started emulating the Astrocade using MESS. And, man, what a version this one is: this is as pixel perfect as it could be back...

Re: 2011/1/12: Intellivision: Beauty and the Beast, Night Stalker, Pac-Man

I'm not familiar with the nostalgia emulator. What kind of controllers does it support? Has to be better than the original Intellivision controllers. Your review makes me want to go back and play this game now. Maybe I will. If I remember correctly, the last one I used was a Mayflash arcade stick, ...
