Re: NBA2k20 on TV

Was it a CPU vs CPU match or two actual players? For some reason I imagined the former, but these days it would probably be more common for two eSports players to have a televised game. Oddly, I find the whole concept of eSports in general more ludicrous than a major network like NBC airing a full A...

Re: What's your favorite game in your least favorite genre?

It also ranks just above Resident Evil on my list of survival horror. This is hands-down my favourite thing I've ever heard anyone say about Vib-Ribbon. Like, quote on the box-art worthy. Before you mentioned rhythm games, I wouldn't have even considered them. They tend to take up such a smal...

Re: NFL Football

Gurley gone from the Rams too. I know he didn't have a great season but is it a bit premature to assume he's already peaked?

Re: Can't beat classic hockey

I have such good memories of NHLPA '93. My dad bought it totally out of nowhere for the Mega Drive and it was one of the few games he ever tried to play. I'm not sure which came first, but either that game or the '94 Winter Olympics was what started my interest in hockey. If watching hockey in the O...

Re: AVGN: Mortal Kombat reviews

I was just a tad too young to fully appreciate the whole Mortal Kombat thing as it was happening, so just seeing the history of the hype around its initial release was cool. Stuff like that really puts across just how impactful something was at the time when it's easy to lose sight of that looking b...

Re: Secret of Mana (SNES)

I scroll past this often on my mini but never commit to trying it. As someone who's only dabbled here and there in classic RGPs (and is only really just starting to explore and appreciate the genre), how high up my list should I place checking this out?

Re: 2020/3/14: Genesis: NBA Action '94, NBA Action '95, Shaq-Fu

Out of curiosity, did the so-bad-it's-good appeal of Shaq-Fu affect your grade, or is the D purely from a gameplay perspective? If you remember Michael Jordan wasn’t in basketball video games for a long time if not ever. IIRC, NBA Live 2000 was the first game that had a license to use Jordan. That w...

In Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Judge Doom's cartoon eyes and then him getting flattened by a steamroller freaked me right out as a kid.

Re: PS1 games compatible with audio CD's?

Vib-Ribbon is the classic example I remember. But that game was actually designed to do that, as the music determined the level designs – so I'm not sure if that's really what you're looking for :)
