Re: 2018/9/21: Game Boy Advance: Spy Hunter / Super Sprint

I am afraid I have to agree with Dave here on the sensitivity of the controls. I really enjoyed Spy Hunter in the arcades, and later on the C-64, but this one is disappointing. Having overly sensitive controls seems like something even minimal playtesting would uncover.

Re: Sony Playstation Classic, $99 US, 12/3

They are getting more expensive. The $99 price was probably a target, and they may have ditched the analog controllers to get there. I could guess the price is in party climbing due to the popularity of the NES retro console, which also anchored the price. This is a much later system, so therefore, ...

Re: Best Time of the Year for Gaming?

I enjoy being outside in the Fall, if I can. For me, give me the dark of Winter evenings.

Re: VGC Anti Atari??

Say what? I haven't seen that thread(s), but I guess I'll have to investigate them now. Not to speak on your behalf, but I think you actually champion the system: A) That Atari joystick is in your banner B) That Warlords/Medieval Mayhem seem to be favorites of yours C) That this forum is a place fan...

Re: Who didn't own a NES in the 80's?

Disclaimer - I’m from the UK. Americans tend to find it hard to believe that the NES wasn’t a thing in Europe because it was so massive over there and in Japan. We have had similar conversations before on the success of the NES in America. I had a Commodore C64 during the mid and late 1980s. My exp...

Re: Gaming Days probably coming to almost an end.

Sometimes the discussion on this site leaves you with an impression that modern, online, multiplayer gaming is somehow a lesser experience than traditional offline gaming. In truth it's the best thing about videogames these days. If you could game with your brother in the same room, or online, whic...

Re: Sportspad Football (Sega Master System)

I don't think you have reviewed Arcade Smash Hits yet. That game let's you use the sportspad to play Missile Command, and it worked okay.

It might still be worth reviewing with Fall rolling around. Yes, it probably is awful, but when has that stopped you?

Re: Gaming Days probably coming to almost an end.

Its also been 40+ years since video gaming really took on a good hold. Since many of us grew up gaming, we might feel pressure to keep gaming, and keep up with trends in gaming, etc. Forget it. Relax and enjoy whatever bit of it still interests you, if at all. Maybe you have some interest for a smal...

Re: Gaming Days probably coming to almost an end.

I feel ya. I’m 38 and I’m in the same boat. The harsh reality is that for me, solo gaming just can’t hold a candle to the joy of playing with family or friends. There’s a couple of games I’d still like to explore (Earthbound and Okami), but that’s about all I’m interested in. However, I’m always do...
