Re: Who didn't own a NES in the 80's?

Disclaimer - I’m from the UK. Americans tend to find it hard to believe that the NES wasn’t a thing in Europe because it was so massive over there and in Japan. We have had similar conversations before on the success of the NES in America. I had a Commodore C64 during the mid and late 1980s. My exp...

Re: Gaming Days probably coming to almost an end.

Sometimes the discussion on this site leaves you with an impression that modern, online, multiplayer gaming is somehow a lesser experience than traditional offline gaming. In truth it's the best thing about videogames these days. If you could game with your brother in the same room, or online, whic...

Re: Sportspad Football (Sega Master System)

I don't think you have reviewed Arcade Smash Hits yet. That game let's you use the sportspad to play Missile Command, and it worked okay.

It might still be worth reviewing with Fall rolling around. Yes, it probably is awful, but when has that stopped you?

Re: Gaming Days probably coming to almost an end.

Its also been 40+ years since video gaming really took on a good hold. Since many of us grew up gaming, we might feel pressure to keep gaming, and keep up with trends in gaming, etc. Forget it. Relax and enjoy whatever bit of it still interests you, if at all. Maybe you have some interest for a smal...

Re: Gaming Days probably coming to almost an end.

I feel ya. I’m 38 and I’m in the same boat. The harsh reality is that for me, solo gaming just can’t hold a candle to the joy of playing with family or friends. There’s a couple of games I’d still like to explore (Earthbound and Okami), but that’s about all I’m interested in. However, I’m always do...

Re: Genesis Pirates Gold! Help!?

Its been years, but I enjoyed this game. The only advice I have is that I used Gamefaqs to help. For instance, a guide there recommends 1660 or 1680 to play. There are also game genie codes for English Buccaneer to bump your initial working capital, cannons and crew size, so I would try 1660 as an E...

Re: Microvision System Review

I looked in David Ahl's Basic Computer Games, and Super Star Trek does have the trademark notes on Star Trek, and "Used by Permission by Paramount Pictures Corporation". That seems to make it a preceding licensed video game, even if the license were essentially free. However, the Microvisi...

Re: Microvision System Review

According to a reply on my Facebook page: I believe this was the first system to have a licensed Star Trek game. That's an interesting tidbit of info! Might need to incorporate that into the review. First, this review is wonderful. I would like to play the Baseball game on it. As for Star Trek, 'Li...

Re: Recent Travels

Welcome back Travel does open the mind, as it shows that many things can be different - for better or for worse. Time has a lot to do with things. I was traveling in a country where the roads were tiny because they went back so far in time in predated cars. America's infrastructure is based around c...
