Re: 2020/5/31: Atari 2600: Basketball, Final Approach, X Mission (Europe)

When I first saw Atari 2600: Basketball in the news feed I figured that you were re-reviewing all the basketball games in keeping of the spirit of the NBA Finals that ain't happening this June.......Of course, there is Basketball, Double Dunk and that "basketball" option on Video Olympics....

Re: The Last Dance (ESPN)

I know the focus is on what might have happened after 1998 but I'm still fascinated by the imaginary asterisks that many fans of that era put by the Houston Rockets '94 and '95 titles. If Jordan doesn't retire to play baseball, could the Bulls have won 5 or 6 titles in row? I'd argue that those Hous...

Re: Campaign '84 for Colecovision

I'm voting for Gary Hart! I want Donna Rice to sit on MY lap!

In all seriousness, this is a good question. I too have this cartridge and don't think I've ever even popped it in my Coleco. The premise seems as daunting as those lame Odyssey II board/video game hybrids.....

Re: 2020/4/30: Commodore 64: Aliens, Eliminator

A great review of Aliens.....and really on target about this game. I laughed at the "intergalactic riverdance" comment. I do think mention should be made about the dramatic opening sequence and that pulsating music that really creates suspense (like the movie itself). I know that lots of C...

Re: What are you playing while stuck at home?

I have been rocking the Atari 5200 exclusively with Space Dungeon, Qix, Qbert, RS Baseball and Popeye. I also have been trying to warm up to Rescue on Fractalus (I have NEVER played it until this week) but have been struggling with the game. I am a little surprised that this cartridge didn't come wi...

Re: Baseball Season?

With the current situation going on, I don't think that any professional sports will be played for the rest of 2020. Believe me......it pains me to even think it. We can rule out (for now) games being played in home stadiums across the country. If baseball does pursue playing a shortened season stri...

Re: Pointless Design Features?

1. The power/reset button on Intellivision II. I seldom "hold it down" for the required 5 seconds before removing the cartridge. 2. On most Colecovision games, having to wait 12 seconds (or whatever it is) for the title screen to go away so I can play the damn game! I am really enjoying th...

Re: Best Console Design Decisions

I just re-read your NES console review and discovered that you may disagree with me! I just remember the palms of my hands being sore from the hours-long contact with the pointed corners of the original NES controller. Either way....years later when I acquired a top-loader with the dogbone I never t...

Re: Best Console Design Decisions

Nintendo creating the dogbone style controller for the Super Nintendo (and using the design later for the controllers that came with the top-loader NES). The dogbone is my all-time favorite controller - no more sore hands from using the rectangle-shaped NES controller from hours of playing Tecmo Sup...

Re: 2020/4/11: Atari 5200: Xevious, Zenji

Thank you for finally reviewing a port of Zenji. I'm glad it just isn't me.

Be warned, there is an underground of love for this game by those weirdos.....
