Re: Hydro Thunder (Dreamcast)

Yeah, my "Hot! New!" version works fine with VGA.

Agree, this is a great arcade racer. Got it on DC, PS2 Midway Hits, and even recent!y got PS1 versjon , just for the heck of it. Grainy graphics with so-so frame rate, but amazing how that they could get it to work with the PS1.

Re: 20th Anniversary Message

Dave,

I appreciate the kind words in the write-up regarding the banners and redesign/mobile site input i was able to give. Hopefully we'll both still be doing this for another 20 years, which seems weird because we'll both be around 70... Yikes!

Keep up the good work.

Re: The 55 dollar question...

Yikes! That C64 controller is a turd! Is it an accurate representation of a Commodore controller? I don't even remember Commodore making a controller... Gonna try my assorted USB controllers before passing final judgement.

Re: The 55 dollar question...

Best Buy has (had?) C64 Minis for 30 bucks, now the circle is complete. I should've known I'd end up getting all three... :D

Re: What ever happened to arcade style racing games?

Besides Onrush there's Grip (spiritual successor to the Rollcage games), Trailblazers (arcade racer with Splatoon-like ground painting mechanic), and (coming next month) Dangerous Driving (spiritual successor to the Burnout games). None are particularly high-profile games, but I hope to pick-up one ...

Re: The 55 dollar question...

Apparently, I have a weird compulsion to mess with small computing devices. Got a Raspberry Pi Zero W with case (delivered today from Amazon.) Guess this changes the subject of the post to the "$26 Question"... Got it up and running with Raspbian OS. Haven't tried Retro Pie yet, but guessi...

Re: Space Ace (3DO)

I would have to agree. Dragon's Lair and MACH 3 (don't think it was ever ported to home) were huge. Then folks realized that the games weren't really much fun, they just looked cool. I don't remember actually seeing a Space Ace arcade game, only pix in Electronic Games (or one of those old mags - El...

Re: The 55 dollar question...

Have had some time to mess with the Pi/RetroPie. Fun little computer, amazing what it can do considering it's size and price. Plays 2600, Colecovision, C64,7800, NES, SMS, Genesis, SNES, Gameboy, GBA, and Lynx great. Jaguar emulation is pretty bad, N64 is spotty. Haven't tried Neo Geo, PS1, or MAME ...

Found a typo. First sentence is missing the word "this".

Re: The 55 dollar question...

Well, ended-up getting a Raspberry Pi with a case. Installed the Raspbian OS on one micro SD card, and RetroPie on another. I'm sure you could install both on one card and choose which one to boot to, but I like the separation of "business" and "fun." Runs fine, neat little compu...
