Re: Gaming Days probably coming to almost an end.

Sometimes the discussion on this site leaves you with an impression that modern, online, multiplayer gaming is somehow a lesser experience than traditional offline gaming. In truth it's the best thing about videogames these days. If you could game with your brother in the same room, or online, whic...

Re: Cooking?

This is a great thread. I consider myself a good cook but I have a few dishes that I specialize in. Whenever my girlfriend is craving one of them, I cook. For pretty much everything else, she cooks while I play the role of sous chef. She's from the Philippines so we have a lot of Asian food at home....

Re: Standard Def 4:3 TVs

I want to buy a bigger house so that I can have 2 video game rooms, a modern one, and a classic one, both with surround sound, and the classic one with a CRT. Also, I'm getting pretty jealous of you homeowners on this site. Our tiny downtown apartment only has room for one TV, and obviously just on...

Re: Gaming Days probably coming to almost an end.

Interesting perspectives in this thread. I'm 43, married with 2 kids. I still game, but only a few hours per week. I know some people mentioned that they feel they are wasting their time, but I don't see it any different than watching tv. Sometime you just want to veg out on the couch watching tv o...

Re: Standard Def 4:3 TVs

Yeah, thought I'd bring this up again Have you considered switching to RGB monitors? They are a little more expensive but are the ultimate in image quality if you ask me. I had a nice one that I had to leave behind in a move. In hindsight I wish I had offered it to someone on this forum for the pri...

Re: Gaming Days probably coming to almost an end.

For me, videogames are a way for me to stay connected with my friends. We all have a Facebook chat group that's been going for about 6 years (since we graduated college), which is how we organize sessions of Civilization VI, Overwatch, etc. When we play games together, we inevitably catch up and cha...

Re: Kingdom Hearts Series

Having gotten through the first Disney world (Alice in Wonderland), I think you may be right. The worlds feel very empty and the stories don't hold up to the original material. I will continue to make my way through it. I did take a detour to try out 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue - the bit that focuses...

Re: 2018/8/12: Super Nintendo: Sunset Riders, Prehistorik Man

Good reviews. The joke about historical accuracy felt very timely given the ridiculous Battlefield 5 backlash.
I also never realized that Sunset Riders on SNES was basically a different game.

Re: No hand holding: good or bad?

I think what you're noticing in the first Uncharted are the remnants of PS2-era level navigation design, the extent of which is basically dropping a player in an open space with minimal clues as to which direction to take or how to interact with the surroundings. It can be very irritating when a gam...

Re: Kingdom Hearts Series

So I started playing the first one last night. It definitely feels like it belongs to the era in which it came out, which is not necessarily a bad thing. You get so used to modern games holding your hand and signposting everything for you. In Kingdom Hearts - the first one at least - the game may te...
