Re: Mario Kart 8 (Switch)

I played Switch for the first time round a friends house last week. Smart bit of kit this is of course the game we played. I did enjoy it but my usual criticism of Nintendo systems applies - haven’t we been playing this for years ? Mario Kart only seems to slightly Evolve and it don’t look that much...

Re: 2018/9/23: Sega Master System: Great Volleyball, Dynamite Dux

Love any Sega reviews, the ‘Great’ sports series was usually anything but great. Likewise the ‘Champion’ series was anything but champion on the SG-1000

Re: Sony Playstation Classic, $99 US, 12/3

I’m tempted but would need to see the full list. Playstation is very different to the NES/SNES in that most of its monumental games where third party.

Re: Shinobi (PS2)

Finally, finally beat this. It’s sort of counter to how you beat previous bosses. I was constantly going for the big one/two hit maximum gauge kill (which all the fancy Dans on YouTube do). But I actually beat him with several smaller gauge hits. All in all an excellent but punishing game. If you li...

Re: 2018/9/14: Playstation 4: Madden NFL 19, Tempest 4000

I wrote up a review of Tempest 3000 for the Readers Review forum, but hadn't posted it yet. Maybe I'll finish that soon. My understanding is that the game is only available on Nuon - which is now an expensive system to collect for. I was fortunate to get mine back when it was easier to find. I woul...

Re: US Open Tennis Controversy

It’s sad that today any adversity is excused by an ‘ism’ Serena couldn’t use the race card as her opponent wasn’t white so she went for the sexism card. Pathetic.

Street Fighter II Rom Hacking (Sega)

Remember the arguments about who had the best version of Street Fighter 2 ? SNES ‘ours has more colours’ Sega ‘ours has more frames of animation and better resolution’ SNES ‘Music is better on SNES’ Sega ‘Music is closer to the arcade’ SNES ‘voices are clear’ Sega ‘Erm’ Well that final point has bee...

I got this Day one download (PS4) but this review has convinced me to shell out for the physical copy.

Re: 2018/9/5: NES: Rolling Thunder, Toobin'

I’ve not played the NES version of Rolling Thunder but played it on the ST. A kinda like the music initially with its beat, but then it does indeed get shrill and obnoxious. The enemies seemed to do a strange dance on the title screen on the ST, will have to check the NES version out as console usua...
