Re: 2019/5/18: NES: Barker Bill's Trick Shooting, Desert Commander

Awesome -- I love seeing reviews for strategy/war games like Desert Commander. I've never really played it myself but have always been intrigued by it ever since seeing it in Nintendo Power. It's also got an interesting backstory since, from what I understand, the original Japanese version makes it ...

Re: 2019/5/15: Turbografx-16: Talespin

Always psyched to see more TG-16 reviews! (The Genesis game looks more polished than the Turbografx one, and its jungle stage is probably more "beautiful", but the overall style is much less distinctive and charming.) It (the Genesis game) also plays rather terribly -- quite a joyless game.

Re: Classic Compilation Icon

When I read the subject and the first post, I imagined the icon would be some kind of mash-up of Pac-Man and a recycling symbol -- a bit like this, but far more compact:

Re: 2019/5/7: Dreamcast: Space Channel 5, Who Wants to Beat Up a Millionaire?

VideoGameCritic wrote:New Dreamcast reviews! Space Channel 5 is a re-review (adjusted grade from B+ to B) and Who Wants to Beat Up a Millionaire (ugh) is new. Feedback welcome!

A game that offers a handful of trivia questions, a few moments of wailing on some random person...and that's it? Sounds like a blast!

Re: What systems do you want to see more reviews for?

You have covered my favorite systems well enough already. I do like to see reviews for Atari and Sega systems. Not sure how many games you have still not reviewed for each, so re-reviews are fine sometimes. For what it's worth, here are the stats for officially released, retail-era NTSC-U games onl...

Re: All the way through?

I recently beat Dragon's Lair on the NES. It's not really that hard, but one or two stupid design choices turn it into a complete nightmare.

Re: What systems do you want to see more reviews for?

I'd like to see Kingdom: The Far Reaches and Kingdom II: Shadoan get reviewed on the CD-i, though with the caveat that I've only played them on other systems (3DO and Mac respectively). They're both very pretty FMV/adventure games, with Shadoan completing a story that was left half-complete in the l...

Re: What systems do you want to see more reviews for?

On the portable side, the Game.com review set is very close too. Only a few games left. Of those games, only Wheel of Fortune 2 is rare/expensive, but really that game isn't much different than the first Wheel of Fortune on the system. Quite right! I've got a list going here, as you probably know: ...

Re: What systems do you want to see more reviews for?

1. Intellivision.

2. CD-based systems that predate the PlayStation (3DO, CD-i, Sega CD, etc.). Those games tend to make for good reviews.

3. Any system that's getting close to a complete North American review set, especially Atari 5200, 7800, Jaguar, and Sega 32X (only one unreviewed game left!).

Re: 2019/4/27: 3DO: Space Ace

Always super-glad to see more 3DO reviews! Haven't played this one but was always curious about it, ever since the heady days of laserdisc arcade gaming. Are you planning to review the CD-i version of Space Ace? I don't know how it plays, but the CD-i usually has the best FMV quality of all of those...
