Here's an informative video about the different ports of Pitfall: TMA:

The Sega CD version emerges as the clear winner.

Re: 2013/8/2: Jaguar: Fever Pitch Soccer, Kobayashi Maru (CD), Sensible Soccer

PAL/50Hz SNES games are a pain since they're inherently region-locked at the hardware level, present a physical obstacle too (same as Japanese games), and many have a software check as well. You can bypass these issues with a Pro Action Replay of the right kind, but I'd sooner just use a flash cart ...

Re: 2018/11/10: Nintendo Switch: Night Trap: 25th Anniversary Edition

I've played a perfect game of Night Trap! You get a much better ending that way. It's not too hard to do, but requires the kind of mapping and planning that's pretty much Kryptonite to the VGC's play style. :)

Posted a list of unreviewed launch titles up through the Dreamcast, if anyone's interested:

Unreviewed launch titles

Here's a list of games that were launch titles for consoles and handhelds released before 2000, and which the Critic hasn't reviewed yet. I'm relying on a recently-removed Wikipedia list of North American launch titles, so this list may not be 100% accurate. Titles that I know to be non-games, e.g. ...

Re: 2018/10/20: Playstation: MediEvil, Dracula: The Last Sanctuary

There's a wiki list for each console in each region. But I don't know how accurate it is? https://ipfs.io/ipfs/QmXoypizjW3WknFiJnKLwHCnL72vedxjQkDDP1mXWo6uco/wiki/List_of_video_game_console_launch_games.html Yeah, I almost linked that, but couldn't immediately sniff out if the site was sketchy or n...

Re: 2018/10/20: Playstation: MediEvil, Dracula: The Last Sanctuary

Yep, the Wikipedia people decided in their infinite brilliance that the site had no need for a list of console launch titles: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/List_of_video_game_console_launch_games Gotta love those Wikipedia editors who think that, by subtracting inform...

Re: 2018/10/11: Genesis: Shadow Dancer: The Secret of Shinobi, Incredible Crash Test Dummies, The

Ha, don't worry, Critic, I think lots of people make that mistake -- including me, until I double-checked at some point! And yes, it's definitely shocking, in a Berenstain/Berenstein or Kazaam/Shazaam kind of way. Kinda makes you wonder what else we're carrying around in our minds, totally different...

Re: 2018/10/11: Genesis: Shadow Dancer: The Secret of Shinobi, Incredible Crash Test Dummies, The

Nice surprise to see a review of The Incredible Crash Dummies! I've played and beaten the Genesis and SNES versions, and I think B- is very fair -- it's a flawed but fun little game. Did you know it uses the same engine as B.O.B. and Wayne's World? Also note that "Test" isn't part of the n...
