This was apparently localized as MLBPA Baseball in North America.

Re: Fighting Baseball on Super Famicom

There's no regional lockout for Japanese games on the SNES, only the physical lockout. Snap off those tabs in the cartridge slot and you're good to go! I've got 30-35 Super Famicom games from Japan and they all play fine on my SNES. (However, PAL-region games do have a chip-based lockout in NTSC reg...

I try to judge each game based on its own merits, not on the reputation of its publisher.

I just played and beat an Ocean game that was pretty fun, actually -- Navy SEALs for Game Boy.

Re: 2019/11/9: Genesis: Great Circus Mystery Starring Mickey and Minnie, The, Mighty Max

Pretty spot-on about Mighty Max. I've beaten both the Genesis and SNES versions, but the game is just a chore to play, and the overall design is stupid -- the Space level is the hardest one in the entire game, yet they put it at the beginning! Since you have unlimited continues and respawn exactly w...

Re: N64 Games That Stand The Test Of Time

Matchstick named a bunch of the ones I had in mind: BattleTanx, Gauntlet Legends, and Pilotwings 64. The latter two, especially, are easily in my top tier for the system. The N64 also has a surprisingly decent tennis library percentage-wise, since 2 of the 3 games -- Mario Tennis and Centre Court Te...

Re: 2019/11/6: 3DO: Hell: A Cyberpunk Thriller

This review makes me excited to play the game. :) Only played it for 15-20 minutes once with my wife, who will often join me for graphic adventures and the like.

Re: 2019/11/2: NES: Gargoyle's Quest II, Touchdown Fever

Touchdown Fever! I love seeing these obscure sports games get reviewed, especially by someone sympathetic to the genre -- i.e. who doesn't automatically hate sports games. (Say, why no NES tennis reviews? I think the only one you've covered is in Quattro Sports, which may be the worst tennis game on...

Re: Later levels/bosses harder than final bosses?

My wife and I ran into this with Gauntlet: Dark Legacy. Not only is the very last boss a pushover compared to the next-to-last boss (Skorne's second form), but even the Wraith (something like the fourth-to-last boss, I think) is much tougher.

Re: 2019/10/25: Saturn: Frankenstein: Through the Eyes of the Monster

By "bad," I didn't mean a bad game, per se, more of something along the lines of a bad experience. Understood, and agreed. It's interesting for me to think about what games exemplify that for me, especially games where real effort clearly went into the product and yet the results were not...

Re: 2019/10/25: Saturn: Frankenstein: Through the Eyes of the Monster

Nobody wants to waste their time playing a bad game *raises hand* I do, actually. Or more accurately, I often tend to enjoy "bad" games more. Why? Partly it's the thrill of discovery: "bad" games are often poorly documented, so you can feel like you're the first person to figure...
