Re: What Games Are We Thankful For?

Great topic. My top 5 games that I am thankful for:

o QFG 1 : So You Want To Be a Hero (PC)
o Links : The Challenge of Golf (PC)
o King's Field (PS1)
o Suikoden (PS1)
o ES3 : Morrowind (XB)

Re: Fighting Baseball on Super Famicom

If I'm not mistaken, the only thing keeping you from playing a Super Famicom game on an SNES are a couple of tabs on the cartridge slot that make it impossible to insert a Super Famicom game. I doubt the Retron 5 or Retro Freak would have those tabs so you would think they would work. Regional prot...

Re: Fighting Baseball on Super Famicom

Super Famicom systems are pretty cheap to pick up and are durable. If it is a first run, you need a TV cable of tuning to channel 95 or 96 which is the closest compatible frequency to Channel 1/2 in Japan (more details --> http://www.videogameconsolelibrary.com/art-video.htm#page=rf). Composite is s...

That is just poor management. I bet you Danny "Bonesaw" O'Sullivan wouldn't allow that stuff to happen on his watch :)

Re: Most Terrifying Games of all time?

I would have to venture King's Field 1. Creepy setting, enemy spawns / hidden locations were surprising and the sound effects (screeching / clawing) and music were absolutely immersive. Terrifying - probably not. But worth mentioning - undecidablely so.

Torchlight (XB 360 / XB One)

Hey Dave.

Just want to recommend grabbing Torchlight off the free Games for Gold for the Xbox platform. Excellent game and was created by two key developers of Diablo 2. Definitely worth the free download.

Re: Add the release year to the console drop down menus on the website?

I think you can just go with the last two digits of the year of the release, e.g. "77 - Atari 2600". The decade is already listed in the respective menu text. That is what I went with to make it appear clean and uncluttered.

Re: Did 3DO games ever come in shrink wrap?

Yes - the long NTSC boxes (both versions) came shrink wrapped. I don't believe any titles were simply sold in jewel cases, but they may have been toward the latter part of the console's life cycle.

Re: Seasonally Correct Section

I think it works well, though the colors are a little nuts for my taste <smiling>. That said, would it make sense to combine the "Use the site's eBay..." and the patreon option into one section ("Support the VGC" as the light blue header for this area). Just a thought.
