Re: This is terrible news for those wanting the Switch port of Spyro Reignited Trilogy physical

Dead Cells? Good, Medium or Bad? I think it looks interesting. Dead Cells is definitely worth buying if you like difficult games. Each level is nonlinear and like most "rogue-lite" indie games, a full playthrough is relatively short but made very challenging due to procedural generation a...

Re: This is terrible news for those wanting the Switch port of Spyro Reignited Trilogy physical

One thing I hate about these download requirements for physical carts is that there are always, without fail, a fair number of people who just shrug it off and say "no big deal, just get another SD card," and there obviously must be enough buyers with this mindset for certain publishers to...

Re: Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection officially announced for everything but for everything but Google Stadia and Atar

The Zero series is pretty consistently good and never hits the lows of, say, Mega Man X6 or X7. Definitely recommended to anybody who enjoyed the X series, with the caveat that the first and second Zero games are among the hardest in the entire franchise. I really hope they fix the godawful map syst...

Re: Sonic: Master System Vs Game Gear

Worth noting is that the bigger field of vision makes the 8-bit Sonic 2 actually playable on the Master System as opposed to the cramped mess it is on Game Gear. It doesn't have as many differences between versions as the 8-bit Sonic 1 otherwise, but both are definitely worth reviewing considering h...

Re: Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled (Switch)

I totally understand not liking the microtransactions and online requirements because there's absolutely no reason they should exist in a game like this, but I'm confused about the intense dislike for the actual game here because I very much enjoyed the singleplayer mode and found it to be a refresh...

Re: Celeste (2018) - just another overrated indie game

As someone who absolutely loved Celeste, I'll agree to disagree, but I will say this part does confuse me: Celeste's level design is absolutely genius. This is the most expertly crafted 2D platformer I have ever experienced. Celeste trumps anything Nintendo or any other developer has done in 2D, and...

Re: Very hard games that were intended for young children

Not a retail title, but a Winnie the Pooh Flash game made the rounds on the Internet some years ago for its difficulty being hilariously inappropriate for children:

Re: Anyone else totally underwhelmed by Cuphead?

The reason I loved Cuphead is the opposite as what this post says, in that I think it would still be an excellent game even without the attention-grabbing art style. It's certainly challenging, but I honestly think the difficulty is overblown (at least on Normal), and the only boss I found to be gen...

Re: 2019/5/30: Game Boy: Super Mario Land, Duck Tales

Yeah, the A+ for Super Mario Land seems a tad overblown. It's a perfectly competent game, but just about every subsequent portable Mario platformer blows it out of the water. I recommend the sequel Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins as well as the main four Wario Land games (the first of which is co...

Upcoming handheld system 'Playdate'

The developers of the successful indie game Firewatch have announced a portable system that has a crank as part of the controls: https://www.engadget.com/2019/05/23/the-morning-after-playdate/ A weird idea for sure, but at least looks more interesting than most modern gaming platforms not made by th...
