Re: 2019/10/16: Atari XEGS: Asteroids, Getaway!

Apologies, I don't understand your review of Asteroids. And I know that's probably my fault for not getting much sleep, but... Why would you expect the raster port of a vector arcade game to be the definitive version? When you reference it as the original, do you mean that it's the same build as the...

Re: Nintendo lied about censorship with games.

Sonicx9, you're one of the reasons I keep coming back here. You ask good questions, even if sometimes you push your own agenda a little too hard. And even then, you always care about the issues you raise, without tearing anyone else down. Do you know how rare that is? I wish there were thousands mor...

Re: Memories of Killer Instinct

Funnily enough, even though portable version of fighting games have came a long way from back then especially on the Switch case, we still get the every now and then Game Boy Era Mortal Kombat/Street Fighter II style ports with work like this.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRUfjqv4PsE SNK Heroin...

Will you be updating the review? It's mostly good, except the bit about the lack of reverse controls for the top castles.

Re: Nu Atari news.

At least they made every other version of Atari seem like Illuminati level evil geniuses by comparison.

Whenever someone mocks the Jaguar now, you can simply bring up the VCS, and long for the good old days together.

Re: The Nintendo Switch game ports are like the modern equivalent to the Sega Saturn ports!

I think we're taking the Saturn/N64/PS1 for granted. Nobody knew what compromises were going to be acceptable to consumers. It was all guesswork. Sony had the least stable polygons and textures - to the point where sometimes a bit of sea sickness and seizures could be a worry - and the first models ...

Re: The Nintendo Switch game ports are like the modern equivalent to the Sega Saturn ports!

I'd say the Switch is just Vita 2.0. The Saturn was comparable in power to the PS1 and N64, and only suffered if you were the kind of developer who didn't even try to take advantage of the dual core set-up. (Example: House of the Dead.) In some ways, Sonic Jam's overworld was far more ambitious than...

Re: 2019/10/12: Nintendo Switch: Star Wars Pinball

It's sad that everyone blames Disney for Lucasfilm's creative decisions. And for the creative decisions of licensees. When they're not complaining about those creative decisions being different than their own personal headcanon. The desperation to simply hate modern Star Wars for any reason is just ...

Re: Memories of Killer Instinct

Killer Instinct was of the few fighting games I was able to play with someone who knew what they were doing, which in a small town in the mid-90's was like finding out Hogwart's was real. And having a proper wizard's duel. And it was around the time I first discovered that kind of music, or pre-rend...

Re: What was your best goodwill video game find?

Haven't ever found much at Goodwill, but it feels really good to know that the things I've donated to charity over the years likely found a good home.
