Re: 2019/4/14: NES: Final Fantasy (Guest Review), Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom

Thank you for that post. And especially for that perspective. Looking at the game though your eyes, I probably would have enjoyed the experience too. But we might as well have played two different games. The difference was that I enjoy complexity. And Final Fantasy's wealth of options immediately gr...

Re: 2019/4/14: NES: Final Fantasy (Guest Review), Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom

ThePixelatedGenocide: You don't need to use save states or anything to enjoy Final Fantasy 1. Wizardry 1 honestly needs that, which Matchstick and I are talking about in a side tangent a bit. I'll simply quote Matchstick's post. Oddly enough, Final fantasy's level-up stats are fairly random, as wel...

Re: 2019/4/14: NES: Final Fantasy (Guest Review), Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom

I don't question the love for Final Fantasy. But I'd love to see the reaction to a modern game with this many broken or missing gameplay mechanics. Especially without using FAQs to avoid them. Deliberately avoiding the subject in order to claim this version of the game is the best version? Even over...

Re: 2019/4/14: NES: Final Fantasy (Guest Review), Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom

The Final Fantasy review is sort of misleading. The increased difficulty in the NES port of the game mostly comes from bugs and broken features, not any kind of intentional design choices. The INT stat does nothing. A bug prevents the game from calculating the added effects of elemental weapons. Tha...

Re: What ever happened to arcade style racing games?

Just a head's up: Riptide Renegade is only $4 at the Switch e-shop, if you're looking for an over the top, arcade racer, and don't mind a serious challenge. Think a utopian/post apocalyptic Wave Race, and you won't be far off. One of the stages has you crashing through the perfect city of tomorrow, ...

Re: Atari Flashback (Switch)

Just to note: If you're still on the fence about this, the Vita version is half the price of the Switch version.

Re: 2019/4/1: Xbox One: Sid Meier's Civilization: Flat Earth Edition

Really, I think we can all agree the whole 3d thing was probably a mistake in the first place. Did the gimmick really fool anyone? I mean. even our best cutting edge science suggests reality is probably just a holographic mode 7 effect. No more lies. Let's just go back to flat videogames, in general...

Re: Proof that bad word of mouth for video game censorship does not hurt sales for games.

Sony had the only censored version of BMXXX.

They're just being consistent in their bad habit of wildly inconsistent censorship. It has nothing to do with a move to America.

Re: I feel like I'm the only one who is not into Pokemon

On the other hand, I consider myself a bit of a conservationist and an animal rights advocate, and as I've gotten older, Pokemon has always struck an odd nerve with me. Kids raising monsters, just so they can battle other monsters, or battle groups of other monsters in tournaments so that their own...

Re: Atari VCS in trouble!

At this point, they should just create a voxel emulator for all their old games, go insane with the particle lighting and rave effects, and then pay for a killer soundtrack. And then bring back the Jaguar CD's audio visualizer. They could even call it 'Jeff Minter's Acid Flashback.' Because everyone...
