? Never said Sony's engine was going to be used.

Just that it might have been a better fit for what they had in mind.

Re: Why is Ark: Survival Evolved a badly optimized UE4 game on all systems?

Heck, they wanted Bloodstained to be on Wii U and PS Vita, 2 underpowered systems that did not even natively support UE4. If those came out, it would have been way worse then the subpar Switch version. Maybe. Unless, of course, they just used the free Sony PhyreEngine instead, and built their polyg...

Re: Why is Ark: Survival Evolved a badly optimized UE4 game on all systems?

The issue with Bloodstained is that they're unfamiliar with the engine, and they're splitting their focus. A limited budget isn't helping, sure, but can you imagine if they'd created Symphony of the Night this way? "Okay, we're aiming for release on PC, Saturn, and PS1. Plus the most powerful h...

Re: Why is Ark: Survival Evolved a badly optimized UE4 game on all systems?

Because they didn't care about optimization at all while making it. "We can do that after we're done adding in new features." was their overall gameplan, plus they also have an attitude of "Our game is fine. Your computer is just too weak to contain all of the awesome. Meet the new Cr...

Kung Fu Master (2600)

(So...I know I'm far from a game critic. But I noticed there's no review on the site for this game. I had to do something about that situation, even if that something was stupid and ill-advised. So, here's my very random thoughts and opinions on the game, for whatever they're worth. Any constructive...

Re: Beats of Rage?

Beats of Rage games are generally more professional looking and playing than MUGEN, simply because of how simple the genre is, and how few sprites are needed to create anything new...at least by comparison to a Street Fighter 2 clone. The Final Fight/TMNT style beat-em ups can even rival a true arca...

Re: Super Castlevania IV Retrospective

Easy doesn't equal bad. It means Castlevania IV is an entry level game for players new to the series, that even older folks with slower reflexes can still enjoy. It's a meditation exercise, steeped in atmosphere, with just enough risk to shame anyone who lets their guard down. Anyone who thinks it's...

Re: Modern Full Price $60 Video Games with YouTube style ads that are unskippable!

On the other hand, they save money by licensing pre-existing engines. They could also budget better by reusing more sets, props, costumes and polygon models (as if they were real actors, items, and locations), and hiring unknowns for their voice/motion capture cast. We're at the point where textures...

Re: Sonic: Master System Vs Game Gear

Yeah, it's a pretty understandable mistake.

Unlike all the comments on Youtube asking why Ghouls N' Ghosts comparisons "forgot to include the SNES port?".
