Kung Fu Master (2600)

(So...I know I'm far from a game critic. But I noticed there's no review on the site for this game. I had to do something about that situation, even if that something was stupid and ill-advised. So, here's my very random thoughts and opinions on the game, for whatever they're worth. Any constructive...

Re: Beats of Rage?

Beats of Rage games are generally more professional looking and playing than MUGEN, simply because of how simple the genre is, and how few sprites are needed to create anything new...at least by comparison to a Street Fighter 2 clone. The Final Fight/TMNT style beat-em ups can even rival a true arca...

Re: Super Castlevania IV Retrospective

Easy doesn't equal bad. It means Castlevania IV is an entry level game for players new to the series, that even older folks with slower reflexes can still enjoy. It's a meditation exercise, steeped in atmosphere, with just enough risk to shame anyone who lets their guard down. Anyone who thinks it's...

On the other hand, they save money by licensing pre-existing engines. They could also budget better by reusing more sets, props, costumes and polygon models (as if they were real actors, items, and locations), and hiring unknowns for their voice/motion capture cast. We're at the point where textures...

Re: Sonic: Master System Vs Game Gear

Yeah, it's a pretty understandable mistake.

Unlike all the comments on Youtube asking why Ghouls N' Ghosts comparisons "forgot to include the SNES port?".

Re: THQ Rises from the grave!

So, they're like the old THQ, but with lessons learned and a commitment towards honoring the best of their history?

Damn, why couldn't they have gotten the Atari license? Or at least given advice to Sega?

Re: Sonic: Master System Vs Game Gear

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXg7Nsfhb6k A one hour video detailing the differences between the original Sonic 1 on the SMS and the GG remix. To sum up the first 15 minutes: New Sonic sprite, arrows helping to guide the player, a few bug fixes, an easier first boss, and the traps are more careful...

Re: Touch screens going away?

I used to hate touch screens. But looking at my family's history of arthritis, there might be a time when they're the only gaming options I have left. I wish more were designed around a stylus interface, or touch menus, rather than trying to imitate a controller. That said, trying to control Mario 6...

He's a consumer rights advocate/game critic. He usually reports about the industry like a saner, more honest version of Infowars.

He's really not for those who can't stand too much negativity. But sometimes, it can be cathartic to hear a passionate rant you can actually agree with.

Re: Captain Marvel

Carol's lack of emotion didn't bother me, because she's constantly shamed for not keeping her emotions under control. And Brie reveals those buried emotions with a delay before Carol answers how she thinks she should. Or with a small twist of her lips. Or deliberately avoiding eye contact. The guard...
