Re: What was your best goodwill video game find?

I found a complete Wii console (all hook ups, sensor, power supply, etc) for $10. They sold the Wiimote and nunchuck separately for $5, so $15 for all. I took it home hooked it up and found it hadn’t been used since 2008. Not only was it in mint condition cosmetically, but it had also barely been us...

Well, I’ll be...

Being wrong never felt so good.

That’s great about Deadly Premonition and Tokyo Mirage. Not sure why they weren’t on Amazon, but I don’t really care as long as I can get them physically.

The latest Nintendo Direct shows great upcoming games, but exposes a PROBLEM for game collectors...

Forgive me if this has already been posted somewhere, but Nintendo had what is possibly their best Nintendo Direct yesterday. Tons of games are coming to Switch. https://www.ign.com/articles/2019/09/04/everything-announced-at-the-september-4-nintendo-direct Some surprises include the following: SNES...

Re: what are your favorite remakes or sequels?

I like remakes that modernize the game’s visuals and mechanics but still stay true to the original. Ratchet and Clank (PS4) and Resident Evil 2 (PS4, XB1, PC) are two that come to mind. But I can also appreciate remakes that take the time to fix problems with the original. Metroid: Zero Mission (GBA...

Re: What age should I introduce my daughter to video games?

I’m perhaps a little qualified to answer this, as I have a boy and a girl ages 10 and 9, respectively. I don’t see this as really any different than any other medium, to be honest. When I was a young parent, people were still really into Baby Einstein videos. Yet all the research I’ve looked at does...

Re: Super Castlevania IV Retrospective

Can’t believe I didn’t see this thread. You know me: I love me some Castlevania. Gonna have to listen to this podcast, for sure. I think JLH and I were discussing a SCV4 vs Bloodlines a couple years ago and I revealed that I had switched my opinion on the two. Something like 9 years ago, I did mini ...

Re: Google Stadia is Dead on Arrival!

So you guys know that I’m with you on this— I barely buy games that are digital-only anymore— but I’m gonna play devil’s advocate... just for fun. I believe “Netflix of Gaming” is the future for the medium. I don’t want it to be, but it’s probably where the industry is headed. Microsoft’s Game Pass ...

Re: Component cables for old systems

Two things: Flat screen CRT? I thought that by nature a CRT had a curved screen. Just real quick, CRTs were curved through the 90s, but early 2000’s saw most companies release flat screen CRTs. While I enjoy the look of curved CRTs— it’s also true that many game developers designed their 80s and 90...

Re: Konami planing a TurboGrafx-16 Mini!

NORTH AMERICA GETS RONDO OF BLOOD OR WE RIOT!!! Okay, it’s already confirmed for Japan so we’ll *probably* get it, but still... We gotta have Rondo. Now that I think about it, this is probably why it wasn’t released in Konami’s Castlevania Collection. Whatever. Good on Konami for doing this. The com...

Re: Component cables for old systems

I own the HD Retrovision component cables for Genesis, Saturn, PS1 and SNES. They are excellent! I also own 2 third party/generic component cables for the Saturn— these are the $45 cables + $15 shipping you saw on eBay— and I can tell you they make a world of difference compared to the generic S-vid...
