Re: Unpopular Gaming Opinions

I think the original 'Strider' on the Sega Genesis is horrible and I do not understand the praise. It's choppy, has tons of slow-downs, average music, average animation, sloppy controls, bad hit detection, annoying floaty jumps and uninteresting level design. Why does everyone seems to love this gam...

Re: Dynamite Heady (Genesis)

I didn't get on with this one at all, I found it very difficult and over chaotic. Well, I agree. I mean, the graphics are really good - colorful and well animated and the sound is good as well. But yes, I thought it was too chaotic as well. (One of the many Sega Genesis games I don't see as a 'clas...

Re: your favorite FMV game?

When I first played Rebel Assault on my Mac CD-ROM in 1993, I thought it was the greatest game ever! I still have a soft spot for it. Also, the original Mad Dog McCree is brilliant in all its cheesiness.

Re: 2019/11/26: Philips CD-i: Arcade Classics

Nice review, but are you sure high scores aren't saved? I own a Philips CD-i 210 and I thought for a long time none of my games saved anything. However, after some googling it turned out the memory system of the console is broken! (And unfortunately there's no easy way to repair it).

Re: Book Review: Video Games in The Netherlands

Kind of like 21st century Hobbits, but displayed in an incorrect aspect ratio.

This post was almost as funny as the VGC's review!

Re: Book Review: Video Games in The Netherlands

Thanks, Dave! It was very funny to read a piece on my book by an American reviewer! Laughed out loud when I read how the Dutch are viewed from an American perspective :). Biggest, latest news from the Dutch gaming scene: Herman Hulst, who is one of the co-founders of Guerilla Games, is now going to ...
