Re: Would you buy a $500 Console?

Accounting for inflation it’s hardly an extreme price. The PS3 really launched too too too high but that was $600 2006 dollars. A $200 NES in 1985 would translate to $477 today. The $300 PS1? Just over $500. $499 is about the expected spot. If the push for $599 they may be in some trouble. Of course...

Re: No one to play games with

Aside from my younger brother on rare occasions, I would have no one to play multiplayer games with. I’ve played online over the years but between poor internet and poor manners it’s never much fun. I’d love to play some 4 player PowerStone or even Perfect Dark or TimeSplitters but finding 3 other p...

Re: Reconsidering Neo Geo CD reviews

Just want to totally agree with everything above.

I might actually think separating NG CD reviews from AES reviews entirely as they are distinct systems is a good idea.

Re: Neo Geo CD Speed up?

If you go the SD route, I would think a flash cart for the AES Neo Geo would be the way to go.

Unfortunately I don’t really know much about the power adapters but as long as it’s delivering the proper voltage/amperage how wrong could it go?

Re: Anybody excited for VR?

I genuinely enjoy VR. More videos or experience kind of things than video games but it can be quite amazing. The problem is at this time there is too little standardization, too little software. The headset needs to be standalone or universally compatible with various devices. Make it like a TV. Plu...

Re: Neo Geo CD Speed up?

Oh yes. The New Geo CDZ. It is indeed supposed to load faster. Rumor was it was a 2x drive instead of a 1x but if memory serves it actually had additional cache to increase the transfer rate.

Seems to run over 250 on eBay and I don’t think the loading times will be DRAMATICALLY better.

Re: Unpopular Gaming Opinions

Mario Kart is not all that good. When you win it doesn’t feel like you deserve it, when you lose it’s the same. Stuff just happens. People adore it but I’ve been spoiled. Even the so so port of Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing Transformed is so much more satisfying than Mario Kart 7 on the 3DS. Every...

Re: Console Design Blunders

Maybe not the most egregious but front loading and depressed cartridge slot for the NES. Completely unnecessary, and unreliable.

Although it’s not on this site, removing the N Gage’s battery each time to change a game cartridge seems insane.

Re: Console Designs: PS5 Vs. Xbox Series X

It downloads the entire game from the internet and the disc is only used as a verification that you actually own it. Each game has been recompiled to run on Xbox One hardware. There’s no hardware based backwards compatibility, or even emulation based backwards compatibility. Of course someday someon...

Re: Console Designs: PS5 Vs. Xbox Series X

The 360 backwards compatibility is pretty good, but they only have a handful of Xbox games(23?) that work. It’s mind boggling to me they could write an emulator for Xbox -> 360 but not Xbox -> Xbox One. Then again bleem could get PS1 games to work on my Pentium II but Sony dropped PS1 support. Both ...
