Re: 2018/9/5: NES: Rolling Thunder, Toobin'

Fun reads, both of these. I've tried Rolling Thunder a few times (home and arcade versions), but can never get into it. I know it's considered a good game, but I have never felt that way. Trying to remember why... I think the gameplay always felt slow and stiff to me, and pretty average in compariso...

Re: Donkey Kong 64 (N64)

I've always struggled to enjoy 3D platformers from that era and Donkey Kong 64 is no exception. I played it back when it was new and could never get into it. It takes a lot for me to give up on a game (especially back then when I had a lot less to play), but DK64 was boring enough that I called it q...

Re: Greatest arcade in known universe near Pittsburgh, PA

You are definitely right with that vacation comparison. One thing I can tell from your photos is that Pinball PA has a much better pinball lineup than Funspot. I was never a pinball fan growing up, but it has really grown on me the past few years and now I enjoy them as much as arcade games. Funspot...

Re: Greatest arcade in known universe near Pittsburgh, PA

Looks pretty amazing, and looks like it really pulls off the arcade atmosphere..essential for any great arcade. I have a personal bias for Funspot arcade in NH, so you'll have a hard time convincing me that somewhere else is better, but I'd still check this one out if I'm ever near Pittsburgh. Besid...

Re: Ebay item packaging

That is annoying, although at least it's well intentioned. The sellers that underpack are the ones that kill me. To me the worst offenders are sellers who mail a nice, complete Sega Saturn game in a bubble mailer. There is a 0% chance of that case not breaking during shipment. Thanks seller - you sa...

Re: This months's free PS+ games

It's September already?? It feels like we were just talking about August's games a week ago... That's a pretty nice lineup for the PS4. I almost bought Destiny 2 awhile back, but eventually decided I didn't have time for it. Activision has practically been trying to give the game away during the pas...

Re: Super Mario World vs Donkey Kong Country

I'd agree with Stalvern. ...Although I should point out that I played SMW to death as a kid, whereas I was an adult when I finally tried DKC. Still, having beaten both games, and trying to look at them objectively, I think SMW is a much better game. To me, SMW is easily an A+ quality game and IMO th...

Re: Video Game Culture in the NHL

I think this applies to most of the other major sports too. I don't follow the NHL too closely, but I've noticed it a lot with the NFL and NBA, going back at least a decade now. Series like Madden and NBA 2K have made players comfortable talking about playing games in the locker room. There doesn't ...

Typo alert on Submarine Attack. "Even" in the first sentence should be "ever". Subtle difference, but changes the intended meaning.

Re: Madden Tournament Shooting

I've been following this story a bit more than the usual news, since it's video game related. I'm still hoping to learn more news about the motive here. Unfortunately, I don't think it's as easy as saying people shouldn't take games so seriously... People might have said that about football, or bask...
