Re: Video Game Culture in the NHL

I think this applies to most of the other major sports too. I don't follow the NHL too closely, but I've noticed it a lot with the NFL and NBA, going back at least a decade now. Series like Madden and NBA 2K have made players comfortable talking about playing games in the locker room. There doesn't ...

Typo alert on Submarine Attack. "Even" in the first sentence should be "ever". Subtle difference, but changes the intended meaning.

Re: Madden Tournament Shooting

I've been following this story a bit more than the usual news, since it's video game related. I'm still hoping to learn more news about the motive here. Unfortunately, I don't think it's as easy as saying people shouldn't take games so seriously... People might have said that about football, or bask...

Re: Who didn't own a NES in the 80's?

In the 80s, we had a 7800 and then an NES. Personally I wasn't even aware the Master System existed back then. I wonder if it was just me, or if most kids weren't aware of the Master System back then... The first time I ever heard of Sega was when I played a Genesis at my uncle's house sometime arou...

Re: 2018/8/20: Sega 32X: RBI Baseball '95

I also have this Batter Up controller for the Genesis, which I've never tried: Batterupcontroller.jpg That looks....terrible  Ha, it definitely does! If I remember correctly, I think it even uses sensors to allow motion controls (i.e., by swinging the bat to swing in the game). I'm sure it wor...

Re: 2018/8/20: Sega 32X: RBI Baseball '95

This review is making me interested to try this one out. Despite being a fan of sports games, I don't think I ever played a 16-bit era baseball game... I played a bunch on the NES and then didn't play another until the N64. This one looks really good, at least from the screenshot you posted. For som...

Re: VGC Tries Virtual Reality

If I could get a cheap setup (under $200) I would be tempted, but otherwise I'll remain on the sidelines for now. Btw, as luck would have it, the Oculus Go sells for $200, which is the only genuine VR system that you can get at that price right now. It has everything built right in, whereas the reg...

Re: VGC Tries Virtual Reality

A year or so ago, I got to try the HTC Vive for about 30 minutes at an arcade near my house. I played a few FPS style games, where you stand in one spot and shoot things. One was a survival horror zombie game, one was set in space, and one was a castle defense game with a bow and arrow (which was my...

Re: 2018/8/17: Turbografx-16: Moto Roader, Super Volleyball

New Turbografx reviews, nice. I've never played these, but looks like I haven't missed much. Your annoyance at Moto Roader is hilarious, great review. Super Volleyball looks a lot like Power Spike II for the Neo Geo, with the same 2D view, although it sounds like it plays much better. I've played Po...

Re: Street Fighter 30th Anniversary

I'm no Street Fighter fan, so my advice is more generic, but for fighting games I'd always choose the Playstation version over the Switch version. #1, the controller is probably the most important thing, and the PS4 controller would be way better, especially the d-pad and sticks. You have the X-Arca...
