Re: It took Axiom Verge on the Switch to get me excited about gaming again...

Speaking of "small studio", in my love for the game I've been researching its history and development, and as far as I can tell, the ENTIRE thing, including the separate-soundtrack-worthy music was made by one guy. This makes me all the more impressed with the game.

Re: It took Axiom Verge on the Switch to get me excited about gaming again...

I have similar tastes. I would actually say that the game, while looking more Metroid, feels more Vania. Early in the game there were all kinds of places I couldn't go and items I couldn't get because I had not acquired the necessary weapons or abilities, and I was discouraged that it would be an et...

It took Axiom Verge on the Switch to get me excited about gaming again...

I was starting to notice that it had been a REALLY long time since I played a game that I was TRULY excited about. The last thing that had me absolutely riveted and not wanting to leave the house in the morning was probably Uncharted 4. I've played good games since then, but nothing was holding my a...

Re: 2018/2/6: Xbox 360: Fatal Inertia, Price Is Right Decades, The

Your review for Price Is Right did not come across as a review for an "F" rated game until the last sentence. It sounded more like an average game with a couple missteps and omissions that could have made it significantly better. Heck, I'd wager there isn't another "F" review on ...

Re: Games the VGC Didn't Review (Yet), for Systems Nearing Completion

I won't consider his review of Portal as complete until he plays the game to the end. OK, but I don't follow what this has to do with my thread, which is about completing the library of reviews -- i.e. reviewing every game -- for specific systems like the Atari 5200 and Sega 32X. Seems to me like y...

Re: Games the VGC Didn't Review (Yet), for Systems Nearing Completion

My friends and I played Portal to the end together a few years back. Might not be reflected in the review. I asked you how far you got into it back when you released your first review of it here, mostly because you called it a "little puzzle game" or something like that, which made me sus...

Good point. I always forget that games on both of those systems aren't necessarily identical.

Re: 2018/1/14: Genesis: Aero the Acro-Bat, Aero the Acro-Bat 2

I have to say that I am really surprised by the review. About a week ago I noticed the SNES Aero on my emulator ROM list and decided to give it a try, mostly because it was one of those games I remember seeing on store and rental shelves alot as a kid, which is about all I need for the game to have ...
