Re: 2018/5/14: Playstation 3: Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Alright... so I finally reset my password to post again to post in this. Those of you taking a guy with a family who runs a review site as seriously as you are really need to chill the **** out. Seriously, as you get older you spend less time on games and those fun side projects and more time on wi...

Re: Capcom releasing Resident Evil 7 on Switch, In the Dumbest Way Imaginable

I don't see why this is such a horrible idea. I know many people who don't keep their old games, they basically play them to completion and trade them in. To them, they will never replay that game again, so why keep it? Is this any different than renting/streaming a movie? Imagine you always had to ...

Re: Terrified of a Digital Future

i don't know about music and spotify, but streaming movies and tv has several issues. First, they are being parceled out among many providers - Netflix, Amazon, HBO, Hulu, etc. So its not a single subscription, its many. Second, content may only be there a limited time. A hit movie is on Netflix fo...

Re: Terrified of a Digital Future

For the record, I wouldn't characterize Netflix as taking away your ability to own movies on physical media. It's just a streaming service more comparable to television networks. Likewise the most popular medium for music is streaming, which is more akin to listening to the radio. Digital downloads...

Re: No quality control

Critic, I think you have become so scorned about "online" that you are connecting dots that aren't there. We have had TV programming "as a service" (Netflix, Hulu, etc.), but the quality hasn't suffered. Have you seen Stranger Things? Modern games have bugs because they are comp...

Re: VentureBeat article "Consoles need to ditch discs and embrace digital downloads"

I disagree with this point. All you need to do is look at the music industry. Cds are no longer in Best Buy, and there's very few now in Target, Walmart, etc. Has this hurt the record labels? Not at all. They have embraced the streaming model and record labels are making record (excuse the pun) pro...

Re: VentureBeat article "Consoles need to ditch discs and embrace digital downloads"

Like everyone else here, I completely disagree with the article. But it does hint at a notable point -- it's likely the retailers that will keep physical releases going for years to come, more so than consumers. It's all about the money. Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo don't care much what we all thi...

Re: Framemeister Review

You know what? I didn't realize that my TV settings were wrong. I was on Operation Sports, and they had a thread on 4K settings. I tried those, and now everything looks so much better. I tried Wind Waker on the Gamecube, Ocarina of Time Master Quest on the N64, and A Link to the Past on SNES, and a...

Re: Framemeister Review

What a hunk of junk this thing is! The scanlines tend to be distracting as hell, and I notice very little difference in picture quality. I don't understand. Your first post was saying how much better everything looked. What happened since then? I'm sure it's just your settings. Check out my life in...
