Re: Original Nintendo Game Prices

I don't recall the price of Atari games, but weren't Nintendo games actually around 50 bucks back in the 80's ( actual price not including inflation)?

Re: Timesplitters

My wife and I played the first game after spending a lot of hours on 2 and future perfect and that was a mistake because it was really really bad in comparison. The storyline for 2 wasn't phenomenal but the gameplay was very enjoyable and I never felt confused as to where to go next ( plus my wife e...

Re: Toxic Genesis Games to Avoid

The only Genesis game that I ever played that I didn't beat or just had no desire to beat was this game called Fatal Rewind. [...] Fortunately, to the best of my knowledge no one else has ever played this toxic heap of a game). I've played it a fair bit, especially the Japanese version (The Killing...

Re: Toxic Genesis Games to Avoid

The only Genesis game that I ever played that I didn't beat or just had no desire to beat was this game called Fatal Rewind. Given that I would only get 1 to 2 games a year that's saying something. The game was a side scrolling platformer with a storyline similar to the game show in The Running Man ...

Re: Classic Gaming Life Lessons

I had to resurrect this thread because it made me chuckle. To add a few: It's perfectly acceptable to throw food at chefs (encouraged even), especially if they try to prevent you from eating ice cream. Always carry around a couple bucks in case you run across a guyin a carrot suit or an opera singer...

Re: Nintendo Game Counselor

I never called them specifically since we didn't have a Nintendo product in my house until the 64, but I remember using a similar service to figure out what I needed to beat one of the end bosses of Phantasy Star 2. Wasn't there an additional fee on top of the regular long distance fee? I definitely...

Re: Free remakes of Kings Quest 1,2,3!!!!!

Never played the Kings Quest series, but I did play Torins Passage from Sierra ( apparently no ones heard of it). Always felt it was kind of open ended, but only recently thought to look it up. Found out it was supposed to be a multi part series alternating with Kings Quest, but that style of comput...

Re: What was your first console?

My first console was an Atari 7800 in either 87 or 86. My friend convinced me to get a 7800. He said Nintendo's only edge was better graphics. Plus he had a 2600 so I could trade games with him. It didn't take long for me to figure out that wasn't Nintendo's only edge! About a year later I got a Se...

Re: Toughest game you've beaten

Earthworm Jim was a pretty difficult game. The level where you had to navigate the fish bowl around was probably my least favorite ( along with the Pete the Puppy level).
