Video Game Tournament Rules?
Hi Dave - For those of us in the Annapolis area, would you take new entrants/loyal readers for the next round, or do you stick to a trusty crew?
I tend to feel more comfortable with friends, or at the very least, friends of friends.

Video Game Tournament Rules?

You can ask for suggestions, but I DON'T recommend announcing the games ahead of time. I did this once, and a few guys practiced like hell and beat the crap out of everyone else. Plus it ruins the whole surprise factor.

In some tournaments, I've even picked random games o...

Video Game Tournament Rules?

Since fighting games tend to be quick, I usually let people have one "practice" round to get the hang of the controls. Racing games are always a hit.

Also, beware of single-player games with a "continue" feature. Unless you can turn it off on the options menu, you have to assume...

Video Game Tournament Rules?
Dear VGC,

I have a decent-sized collection of consoles myself, (2600, Master System, Genesis, NES, SNES, PS2, etc.), and I'd like to host a video game tournament for my workplace. I've read about your annual events and they look like a blast, so I was wondering if you could brief...

I agree that it's probably a tactic to sell more Wii's by bringing out a special version for that console. I prefer Nintendo hold out instead of having everyone buy the GC version and then springing the Wii version on us.

Two questions and looking for some answers.
I've heard of this and I think it seems cool. Is anyone getting the Xbox Live Vision Camera? I think it's cool for chatting with friends so you won't have to walk 10 blocks to your buddy's house. And Critic-- do these two Star Wars games-- Lego Star Wars 2: The Original Trilogy and S...

Other Critics?
Hey Critic, I was just wondering what you thought of other Critic's ratings. Like for example you gave Star Wars Bounty Hunter an "F" whereas IGN gave it an "8.3" do these ratings ever have an effect on what you rate a game generally?
I read a lot of maga...

I want HD DVD now

Over the previous few months I've been a bit down on HD DVD, not as much for the price of the players, but because I thought my normal DVDs look just fine on my 50" plasma. Well tonight I was flipping around and stumbled Pirates of the Caribbean on ABC. Having watched the regular DVD ver...
