Re: Uncharted 4... isn't a game

I agree that games like this have a tendency to hold you hand a little too much in the early going. I guess it's necessary to establish characters and the plot. But yeah, I think it does get better.

Re: New Arcade Systems for $300

Asteroids didn't have a spin dial in the arcade - just buttons for turn right or left.

I wonder if the top parts (with the names) light up.

Re: New Arcade Systems for $300

I love the concept but they could at least make them full size. 4 feet? Are you supposed to kneel down??

NES Classic best selling console

I'm glad Nintendo is finally pumping out the NES Classic in reasonable volumes, so people can actually buy them. But I have to admit I was shocked it outsold all the modern consoles in June! https://www.theverge.com/2018/8/2/17642236/nes-classic-npd-sales-data-june-2018 How is this possible, and wha...

Re: Motion control in theory

The thing is, I think the early motion controllers gave the whole concept a bad name. Recall the first versions of the Wii-mote weren't very precise, resulting in an inordinate number of "waggling" games. Then there was the Kinect, which took an hour to set up and wasn't particularly accur...

Re: In Praise of Frogger

Frogger was a lot more creative than Freeway, with basically two different stages on one screen.
Freeway does offer head-to-head play though.

Realsports Baseball for Atari 8-bit computers?

The latest Retro Gamer magazine had a spread on the Atari Realsports games, and mentioned that while Realsports Baseball for the 5200 is great, it says you might want to play the "8-bit adaptation" so you can avoid using the Atari 5200 controllers. Has anyone ever heard of this? I'm not su...

Re: In Praise of Frogger

When I was a kid my parents had another couple over the house one night and were surprised that the woman was really excited about my Atari 2600 video game collection (set up in family room). I wasn't there, but apparently they played a lot of games with Frogger being the most popular. It's funny, m...

Sticky controllers

Displayed prominently on my game room wall is a Katana controller for this PS2 which came with the game Onimusha 3. The controller is crap (you basically just shake it to swing) but it looks like a Japanese sword so that's pretty cool. The other day my nephew wanted to check it out so I took it off ...
