Re: The Problem with Soulslike Games.

But here's the weird thing: I don't know if this is my fault or theirs. You're looking for something too narrowly specific and too vague in its specificities for them to make in the first place. It's not even a matter of liking "Souls-likes made by From Software" because you gave up on Se...

The bunny icon has been ACQUIRED, but not yet deployed. I'd like to hear your suggestions about which games are truly deserving of it! Good news – Wikipedia apparently considers this information "notable". Edit: For some reason, Jumping Flash is not on that list. No, I will not be adding ...

"Unoriginal" is an interesting complaint to have about that game.

Re: your favorite FMV game?

I'm not sure I would count Mansion of the Hidden Souls (great game) as FMV as there is really no FMV to speak of. It's all computer-rendered (no live action). Video is video. It has nothing to do with whether the video was filmed or animated. The game streams Cinepak files off a disk; they don't tu...

http://i.imgur.com/UMSR2cF.jpg Midway's Off-Road Challenge was a corny, mediocre arcade game and thoroughly laughable ported to the N64. Of course, I played that cartridge to death. When you're a kid, monster truck racing is monster truck racing, especially if it's loaded with brainless cheese. I'l...

Re: your favorite FMV game?

I recently found out about Kingdom: The Far Reaches (originally the almost-unreleased Thayer's Quest on Laserdisc). I'm not sure that it looks good, but it seems intriguingly ambitious for an FMV game.

Re: What Games Are We Thankful For?

I never got around to playing the follow-up game Skullmonkeys, though, or the recent spiritual successor Armikrog. Any thoughts on those ones, Stalvern? Skullmonkeys is fun but very ordinary in comparison. It's basically a clay Donkey Kong Country with goofy cutscenes. Armikrog is a hot mess. I rev...
