Re: 2019/5/30: Game Boy: Super Mario Land, Duck Tales

I always liked how Super Mario Land was presented in the same graphical style as the original Super Mario Bros. yet Super Mario Land 2 looks more like the SNES Super Mario World. Shows just how powerful the Gameboy really was once the developers learned how to better utilize the capabilities of the ...

Re: RIP Ouya and the downside of digital only consoles.

I am a little sad about this as I still fire up my Ouya every now and then but in reality, I haven't downloaded a game in a long time as my unit is rooted and I have the Google Play store available on it and can sideload games/apps. Unfortunately, this is going to be an issue for any online/digital ...

Re: Sega CD or 32 X?

I agree with everything said here so far. The Sega CD is/was one of my favorite systems. While some games were shallow for sure, others were really good and envelope-pushing for the time. I remember when my parents agreed to buy me a next gen system and we went to "The Wiz". On display wer...

Re: 2019/5/18: NES: Barker Bill's Trick Shooting, Desert Commander

Hey Dave, Have you ever considered adding the genre of the game to the review under the publisher and also having it as a searchable field? For example, I could see it looking something like this: Desert Commander Publisher: Kemco (1989) Genre: Turn-based Strategy Reviewed: 2019/05/19 Having it sear...

Re: Saturn Virtua Fighter?

I feel like I need to review these games because of their place in history. I vaguely recall Saturn fans being really unhappy with the early version of this game, especially when the system was going up against the PS1. I'd be interested in how it rates against the 32X version as well (which is pre...

Re: Talespin (Turbografx)

The TG-16 version of Talespin is usually seen as the best one. The show was pretty good also.

Re: 2019/4/20: Nintendo Switch: Hollow Knight

Great review (as always). One small thing - at the bottom of the review where you put links to the game on the various other sites (e.g. eBay, Amazon, etc...) it says "Find X-Box Live Points at..."

Not sure if that is intentional or not.

Re: Beats of Rage?

Sounds a little like Mugen. Isn't this the engine that was used to create the unofficial Dreamcast Double Dragon port?

Re: Gamestop posts massive losses

You have to go back a number of years to see how the industry changed. In the 1990's, there were a number of videogame-centric chains like Electronics Boutique, Babbages, Funcoland, etc... This doesn't include secondary retail game outlets like Toys R Us, K-B Toys, and others that sold games alongsi...

Re: Google Stadia aka the most anti Video Game Critic console ever!

This feels like an Ouya in the making. Now don't get me wrong, I like the Ouya and actually still play mine from time to time but the "AAA" titles never materialized and all the system got was ports of mostly 8 and 16-bit independent titles. I am assuming this is going to work through some...
