Re: 2017/5/14: Sega 32X: Afterburner

While playing this in my gameroom, I looked over at my Master System games and realized I already owned Afterburner...I was kicking myself, until I looked up the Critic's review and saw he gave the Master System version an F. So at least I judged the game off the right version. An 'F' for the Maste...

Re: 2017/5/14: Sega 32X: Afterburner

One of my absolute favorite games and the 32x version is pretty much arcade perfect. You should check out the PC-Engine version as well (Afterburner II). It is equally good and shows off the capabilities of the system nicely.

Re: Games you like that everyone else hates?

One of my favorites is Double Switch on the Sega CD/Saturn. Sure it's shallow and not much replay value after you beat it - but it's an enjoyable time and the acting is hilariously terrible.

Re: 2017/4/1: Virtual Boy: Strip Poker II

I actually forgot about the real Strip Poker game I used to play on my C64. Brought back some memories with this review. The sequel on the Virtual Boy looks great. Just be sure to lock your door when playing it because you can't see who is standing around you. :D

Re: Movie Tie in Game that are GOOD?

All good games for sure. I have to give it to Batman Returns (especially the SNES and Sega CD versions). Also I think Demolition Man for the 3DO is a great tie-in game offering a wide variety of play styles (racing, fighting, FPS, shooter, etc...).

Re: 2017/3/8: Turbografx-16: Darius Plus (Japan), Hit the Ice

Not a lot of love for Hit the Ice going on. You have to keep in mind that the arcade game the home ports are based on was never great as it predated NBA Jam by about 3 years. The frenetic pacing just wasn't there. Of all the home ports, I'd say the TG-16 version is probably closest to the source mat...

I'd like to see reviews of the unfinished but available games like "Arena Football" and "Brett Hull Hockey"

Re: Virtual Thoughts on Virtual Reality

I have to say, I've tried the Samsung Gear VR and found it to be incredibly immersive. It's truly something when your entire field of view (including peripheral vision) is part of and dictated by the VR environment. While some of the games I tried were clearly meant to show off the capabilities (e.g...

Re: 2016/9/16: Turbografx-16: Monster Lair (CD), Genji Tsushin Agedama (Japan), Order of the Griffon

If you are going to start reviewing more PC-Engine titles, you should really do some of the Sega arcade conversions. You already did Outrun but there are fantastic versions of After Burner II, Golden Axe, Altered Beast, etc... These are arguably closer to their arcade counterparts due in part to the...

Re: Most Worthless Console You have Ever Owned?

If we're counting portables, I'd give the nod to the Game.com. It's a shame because if it had an actual usable screen, it would probably be a pretty good system. Unfortunately the blurry screen renders it unplayable in virtually all scenarios. A close second to me would be the N-Gage. The Lynx is wo...
