FIRST Favorite Game?

For me, Chrono Trigger for the SNES hands down. I remember getting hooked the first time I played it. I have beaten it multiple times including the Playstation and Nintendo DS versions. This is a game that never got boring or old to me. I told my wife that when I die, I want this game to be buried w...

Blowing on your NES cartridges - silly or sound?

This is what I do to keep my NES games clean and working the first time I try to play them. First of all, I disabled the lockout chip on my NES. This is one of the major reasons why NES games have a hard time loading. The contacts have to be clean and set just right otherwise you get a flashing red ...

Most Unreliable Console?

The Game Gear, Turbo Duo, and Turbo Express systems were unreliable due to the fact they were manufactured using cheap capacitors that tended to leak just after a couple years. I have two Game Gears and a Turbo Express. I changed the capacitors out with high quality ones and now they all work flawle...

How do people like Super Mario Land?

You gotta stand back and think: Super Mario Land was a Gameboy launch title released in 1989. Developers had not yet harnessed the true power of this system. I personally think the game was quite impressive. Yes it had some flaws but overall it was a pretty fun game to play.

References to previous games in a series/related games

I just recently played The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the 3DS. I can recall pictures of Mario in the window when you first encounter princess Zelda in the garden as a child.

GameStop no fun?

I'm actually quite fond of my local Gamestop. I live in Kentucky and my Gamestop prices here are quite reasonable. As a matter of fact, I purchased Dishonored for the Xbox 360 today to add to my collection. It only set me back $10.60 something plus tax since I am a Pro rewards member. In addition...

Redesigned NES Analogue Nt Now Available for Pre-Order at a whopping $500
It's too bad, because it outputs HDMI which a lot of retro gamers would love, but they chose to use really expensive materials. If it used just a plastic case, and sold for $100, then I would guess it would sell like crazy.
I would have to agree with this. I ...

Redesigned NES Analogue Nt Now Available for Pre-Order at a whopping $500

Ran across this by accident today. Apparantly there is yet another NES clone being made. This one boasts compatibility for ALL nes and famicom games. It is supposedly made out of a single block of aircraft quality aluminum alloy. It features 4 controller ports and and has an HDMI option. The catch? ...

What year did you start collecting classic games?

I didn't start seriously collecting until about 4 years ago when I became friends with a guy that had a surplus of games and systems. He sold them to me so cheap that he practically gave them away. Since then, I'm always on the lookout for games and systems that I don't have at yard sales, thrift sh...

Trading dilemma. Any advice?

Thanks for the feedback! I've decided to go ahead and keep the Express. I consider myself more of a collector than a hardcore gamer and from my research, the Express will be worth a lot more in the long run. Although I do enjoy gaming, I prefer to do it casually with all my retro systems. I did run ...
