Re: Favorite Grunge Albums

Anyone that criticizes Nevermind is just trying to act cool. Nevermind certainly appears one of the most influential LP's of all time (and Nirvana one of the most influential bands in rock history) to one that studies music history and evolution of styles. I am not sure how one can make themselves ...

Re: Anyone receiving the TurboGrafx-16 Mini next week?

If you guys haven't checked out Ninja Spirit yet I'd highly recommend it. It's good stuff. I checked it out a couple of days ago. Quite an excellent game that I certainly never heard of. A 16 bit classic like Revenge of Shinobi, perhaps, it is in the ballpark. I cannot state enough how good this Tu...

Re: Extreme Metal

I listened to my fair share of Death/Black metal in the 90's which was probably the peak for these genres. I generally gravitated towards the Scandinavian scene where Death Metal was more melodic but arguably darker (bands like Beherit, Dismember, Dissection, In Flames, At the Gates, Edge of Sanity,...

Re: Top five list

Nice list. I cannot say with too much conviction what my top 5 looks like and it could change on a whim. At this time of writing mine it would look something like: 5. The Neverhood. No question that this masterpiece would make this list for me. While there are a plethora of point and click games tha...

Re: Favorite Grunge Albums

I'm gonna sound like a pretentious hipster douchebag, but Nevermind is probs the weakest Nirvana album anyway, even though I do really like it. In Utero is obviously my favorite, but I also prefer Bleach, Unplugged, and even Incesticide over Nevermind. Agreed - Nevermind is ... not my cup of Pennyr...

Valfaris [Switch,Steam]

I got this last year and played it for a couple of hours before drifting off towards other titles. I decided recently it was worth revisiting and started again from scratch. This is a shooter in Turrican/Metal Slug/Gunstar Heroes mold. While lacking the personality of Gunstar Heros or Metal Slug, Va...

Re: Anyone receiving the TurboGrafx-16 Mini next week?

I received the TG-16 mini yesterday and I followed the advise given to power on. Thank you. and my oh my, is this possibly the best mini console yet? I played this from 730pm nonstop to around 230am. A plethora of great titles (hopefully a hack comes out so I can add more classics) I am simply shock...

Re: Anyone receiving the TurboGrafx-16 Mini next week?

Thanks for the feedback. I feel confident now I will have no trouble playing the TG16. I am really looking forward to it. The TG16 was not a console I owned growing up (I recollect seeing them in toy and electronic stores when I was very young but all us kids back then were Genesis/Snes).

Anyone receiving the TurboGrafx-16 Mini next week?

Got an email from Amazon. I am pleasantly surprised that this one has shipped. This TurboGrafx-16 Mini is one of those where "batteries are not included" and you have to order your own AC Adapter for it. My issue: The console is going to arrive on Tuesday. The AC Adapter - expected ship da...

Picked up a repro copy of this after reading about it in an old magazine. - industrial skyline at night CHECK - enemies who look like Scorpion and Raiden CHECK - rapid-fire projectile throwing CHECK Yeah Hudson Soft definitely had me in mind when they made this.
