Re: 2019/12/3: NES: Shinobi, Gun-Nac

The best I could come up with was, "Beware of Bunnies!" Anything else just devolved deeper and deeper into wordplay nonsense. "Hare-Raising Entertainment," and the like. Yuk, yuk, yuk... I think the "May Contain..." format is a good one to stick to. Keeps all of the ico...

Re: Afterburner!

I've always felt like Afterburner kind of got the rub when it comes to home ports. I think the Genesis version is fine from a graphics and sound standpoint, but I always had a hard time getting anywhere in the game, finding it too hard to see / dodge incoming planes and missiles until it's too late....

Re: Sonic game with the best soundtrack?

I'll echo a lot of the other comments here and say that I believe Sonic 2 has the finest soundtrack in the series. I'd follow it with Adventure, then Generations, and maybe even Colors as an honorable mention. I definitely have the most nostalgia for the first Sonic game, and it is the one I have pl...

Re: 2019/12/3: NES: Shinobi, Gun-Nac

Good news – Wikipedia apparently considers this information "notable". Oh, Wikipedia - you take the fun out of everything!! That being said, it was nice to be reminded about Vib Ribbon, and I forgot all about Bucky O'Hare. Of course, if there's one TMNT-style TV show / comic book / toy cr...

Re: 2019/12/3: NES: Shinobi, Gun-Nac

The easy answer - any game with Rabbids. Also, any games starring Bugs Bunny or Buster Bunny. A lot of the old LucasArts games feature cameos by Sam & Max, including Monkey Island. Some of the old Star Wars games feature Max's big ol' head, too. Do any of the Sam & Max games currently have r...

At least it's only the first level, right? Ah, EWJ2, one of my all-time favorites. Good call, MSR!

Re: 2019/12/3: NES: Shinobi, Gun-Nac

Gun-Nac! YES!! I remember seeing that game featured prominently on Nickelodeon Arcade back in the day. Man, did that show do a good job of advertising games to me that I otherwise never would have known existed. Last Resort! Chuck Rock! ActRaiser! Kabuki Quantum Fighter! Such good memories... It too...

Re: 2019/12/1: Playstation: NCAA Football 2000, NCAA Football 2001

I always like seeing reviews of older sports games, and I do have a soft spot for the 32-bit titles, as that transition from 2D to 3D was slow and awkward. Once EA, 989, and the like figured out what worked, though, there was no going back, and the big, boxy 3D graphics were here to stay. Still, it ...

Re: your favorite FMV game?

Don Bluth's animation was more expensive looking than almost anything else you'd see in a theater around the same time. Indeed, Sir. My childhood fondness for An American Tail and The Secret of NIMH will never die. My Mum took me out of school early one day to go see The Land Before Time, and I'll ...

Re: 2019/9/22: Nintendo Switch: Horizon Chase Turbo, Dragon's Lair Trilogy

Interesting to see this thread revived again! I'm starting to be very, very glad that I missed the boat on Horizon Chase Turbo. I, too, heard that it was an "OutRun-inspired" game, but whenever I would see the game in motion, it made me think more of the Top Gear series. I think it even ha...
