re: Coleco Chameleon

The AtariAge link is both in the Ars Technica article and here http://atariage.com/forums/topic/235430-how-has-this-not-been-posted-yet-retro-vgs/ Its huge - about 200 pages. You could probably just read from page 175 on when Coleco gets involved for the recent thoughts. Nah, I don't do ROMs really....

Re: Coleco Chameleon

Says they wanted to have compatibility with at least the NES, Atari 2600, Intellivision and Colecovision. This September article may no longer be valid. We have had all these systems with A/V out now recently, with preloaded games and controllers fitting the system. One of the nice things on last y...

Re: Coleco Chameleon

I think the article and comments are on target. The AtariAge community seems bearish or downright antagonistic now, the team behind it does not inspire confidence given the last year, and the competition for ways to enjoy simpler gaming is just too strong. Dave, you are enjoying the GBA player on th...

Re: old catalogs / NES

This jives with topics on the NES we have had. I was looking at a 1986 Sears catalog. For $150 or so, you got the NES console, zapper, ROB, two controllers and the pack-in games. This was the same price the Colecovision or 5200 had been in 1983, or the Commodore 64 in 1985 and 1986 (without the disk...

Re: Original Nintendo Game Prices

I spent a nostalgic hour going back through Sears Catalogs and Toys R Us ads. Looks like $30 was an acceptable price. The Atari VCS games in 1977 were about $20 for launch titles, and by 1983 holiday time were $5 for those old titles up to $30 for new ones. $30 for 5200 or Colecovision games too. Se...

Re: Mobile strike and Arnold Schwarzenegger

Yeah but how do you even find the good mobile games? If I log in all I find is free-to-play crap. That is a good question. Unlike console gaming and its long running IPs, mobile gaming seems to be a land of one hit wonders, like Angry Birds and Farmville. These companies find it hard to follow succ...

Re: Mobile strike and Arnold Schwarzenegger

I knew mobile gaming was big money. I knew it was mainstream, but it wasn't until tonight when I saw the commercial with Arnold that I fully realized it....I have a capable mobile phone, but prefer 3DS & PSP for my portable gaming. Free to play model turns me off in a major way. I just want to ...

Re: Star Wars Battlefront (PS4)

In your defense, the Empire is Evil. Evil as in they have fearsome faceless uniform height stormtroopers enforcing the rule of a zenophobic ruthless mass murdering fascist enslaving government devoted to their cackling mad evil wizard overlord. Chauvinism seems spot on here.

2015 in Video Gaming

What did you think of the year that was, 2015? The eighth generation is now in full swing, and the seventh seems to be fading into the rearview mirror. What do you think are the games of the year? Any big high profile games that fizzled? Was it a good year for gaming? A bad year? A so-so year? For N...
