Re: In Praise of Frogger

I think Frogger is actually using twin Z80s in the arcade - possibly one for the road and one for the river, but I'm not sure on that.

Re: In Praise of Frogger

Funny that Activision's David Crane's Freeway is much the same, and developed around the same time. That may be a reason why Frogger was ported everywhere - there was no real way to stop a clone with Freeway out there saying "What - I'm not copying Frogger, see, I'm using a chicken/kangaroo/guy...

Re: Missile Command Games

Thanks Sut!

Imagic's Atlantis has a 'reverse Missile Command' feel too. I will look for Liberator as I don't think I've ever played it.

In Praise of Frogger

Had houseguests, and we ended up playing a good amount of Frogger.

Its all ages fun, and ramps up in difficulty nicely. It non-violent (except to the Frog) and has that cross gender appeal of Pac Man

Missile Command Games

While most every system of the day had Pac Man or a Pac Man clone, what about Missile Command? Can we create a list of Missile Command'ish games? For instance, on the Apple II there is "ICBM Strike", and "City Defender" for the Atari 8-bit computers and "Astro-Command" ...

Re: Playing consoles outside ?

There are party companies that come and set up an inflatable outdoor screen to have an outdoor video game party. I've seen a bar that uses a projector to show Pac Man on the wall of a nearby building. I wonder about dissipating the heat. A console blows out heat pretty hot though, hotter than even a...

Re: Computer Games 1998-2000

I would agree it feels like a Doom clone, but wouldn't want to start a clone war here. Later Jedi Knight games claw farther from Doom. I think by the next game in the series, Kyle is force choking stormtroopers and just tossing them off high places, which has a thrill all its own. It was a fun serie...
