Re: All the way through?

Finished the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2 tonight on the Wii U (Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels, to us Westerners). That includes World 9, which requires the use of no warping throughout the main 8 worlds. I'd like to say that I didn't use save states, but there's just no way that a normal human b...

Re: 2015/4/21: Xbox One: Forza Horizon 2

Nice review, although it leaves me curious what you would think of the 360 original. Not owning a Xbox One, I recently went for the 360 port from Sumo Digital, a studio best known for the home versions of Sega's Outrun 2 line and Sega's kart racers. So far above six hours in, I thought they did a ni...

Re: New Forums Open for Business!

Unfortunately, things seem to be running a bit sluggish right now. Not as bad as it was before, but pages are still taking a good 7 or 8 seconds to move.

Hopefully this is just a momentary issue that fixes itself.

Re: General Conversation forum?

The blu-Ray collection is on my list to get. I heard it got good reviews. One thing that intrigues me is that the picture quality is so great that you can see details that you weren't supposed to be able to see. Things like the crookedness of someone's teeth. Back in the 60's on those old tube tvs ...

Re: Atari Anthology (PS2)

Just noticed that the Critic has never reviewed this collection. I think I went looking for a review before and noticed it, but that surprises me for such an Atari nut. Especially with as many classic compilation reviews as there are around here, yet one of the best is missed. If the Critic sees thi...

Re: Reproduction carts?

He already has done this before. Jr. Pac-Man for the Atari 5200, for instance.

Re: General Conversation forum?

Seems odd to limit it so greatly, when just the usual no "politics and religion rule" could apply to prevent the annoyance that off-topic forums can create at times. And perhaps expand that to cover morality issues, that don't really fall into either topic but can lead to very heated discu...

Re: Atari Anthology (PS2)

I love that game :) And unlike some others, this one is perfect just on the default settings. The difficulty switches do nothing, and the novice difficulty setting (The default game 1) still provides a challenge as far as I'm concerned. It's a rare day when I break 100,000 points, so little reason t...

Re: All the way through?

The only things I'd say against it is that the first level is a bit slow and basic (which is understandable) and sometimes it's hard to tell if you're going to land on a platform or not (which may be partially attributed to the fact that I haven't played a lot of 3d platformers in the past). Haven'...

Re: How to Win at Video Games (1982 Book)

The Digital Press library has this and many other classic books scanned in and freely available. http://www.digitpress.com/library/books/book_how_to_win_at_video_games_complete_guide.pdf About the only worthwhile resource there these days, compared to 15 years ago when it was the go-to place for any...
