Re: 2020/6/25: Atari 5200: Xari Arena

Speaking of multicarts, I hate when there's always that ONE game out hundreds of titles that the multicart is missing. Agreed! But I now see why Bounty Bob Strikes Back didn't make it onto the multicart: https://atariage.com/forums/topic/286-bounty-bob-strikes-back-question/ https://atariage.com/fo...

Re: 2020/6/25: Atari 5200: Xari Arena

I didn't know Bounty Bob was such a hard title to find for the 5200. I didn't have any problems finding the ROM for the Atari 800xl. I used that ROM (and dozens of others) to make my own multi-cart with that AtariMax cart programmer. I wish I had a junky 5200 donor cart like Pac-Man to send you, Lu...

Re: 2020/6/27: Super Nintendo: Roger Clemens' MVP Baseball, Fighting Baseball (Japan)

I've been wondering if/when we'd see a review of that Super Famicom baseball game with the amazing player names!

You have comparisons to two other games at the start of the review, but do you suppose it's worth mentioning that Fighting Baseball was localized in the US under the name MLBPA Baseball?

Re: 2020/6/25: Atari 5200: Xari Arena

I remember being in awe when Bounty Bob for the Atari 5200 was over $100. That was probably around 2000. Now you really can't even get it, and it's not on my multicart either. I'm curious as to whether the Atari 8-bit computer version is the same game, considering games were often ported between th...

Re: 2020/6/25: Atari 5200: Xari Arena

Thanks for this list! Most of these are on my multicart, so that makes it easy. Blaster is not, but it appears to be available from Atari Age. Not sure if Asteroids and Final Legacy are worth reviewing for the system, since it's the same as the Atari 8-bit computer versions, which I already reviewe...

Re: 2020/6/25: Atari 5200: Xari Arena

Oh, I know why I didn't have Xari Arena on my list -- it's an unreleased prototype! Other playable protos you might look at: A.E. Asteroids Blaster Final Legacy Last Starfighter Microgammon SB Miniature Golf Muppet-Go-Round RealSports Basketball Roadrunner Spitfire Sport Goofy Stargate Track and Fie...

Re: 2020/6/25: Atari 5200: Xari Arena

Awesome, a new Atari 5200 review! I'm totally unfamiliar with this game but I laughed at the line about scoring tons of points while having no idea what's going on. I feel as though that's happened to me in a few games, though I'm trying to think of an example...maybe a Game Boy action-puzzler of so...

Re: 2020/6/16: Bally Astrocade: ICBM Attack, Sneaky Snake, Mazeman

Nice, very pleased to see these reviews (and that all three games were a bit better than I'd expected). I'm digging pretty deep in my Astrocade library. Good thing I have a multicart. Indeed, you've dug so deep, there's literally only one officially-released Astrocade game left to review, and it's -...

Re: Donald Duck's Speed Boat (Atari 2600 Prototype)

Glad you're liking this one -- I thought you might! :) And I think you can grade it, since (a) we're pretty sure it was finished and (b) it did get a retail release back in the day (in Brazil) that to my surprise may have been legitimate (i.e. non-pirate).

Re: 32x Motocross madness

That is a funny review. :) The strange thing is, I actually enjoyed Motocross and played the heck out of it. Once you get used to the controls they're quite solid, and I love the total lack of rubberband AI: if you get ahead, you can actually stay ahead, instead of having some anointed CPU bastard s...
