Re: 2019/9/28: Bally Astrocade: Artillery Duel, Pseudo-ku 2008

Agree completely with the Artillery Duel grade. Simple game with great eye candy. Not sure if you noticed, but SOMETIMES when the soldiers march out, one of them will miss his turn and hilariously scramble back to find his way in line. Funny little quirk they built into the game that used to crack ...

Re: Frankenstein: Through the Eyes of the Monster (Sega CD)

Awesome! I love seeing those FMV adventures get reviewed. :D BTW any chance of changing the title of this thread, so that people out there don't get confused and think there was a Sega CD version of this game (or confuse it with the actual Frankenstein Sega CD game)? I keep doing a double-take whene...

Re: Games the VGC Didn't Review (Yet), for Systems Nearing Completion

@VGC: Awesome! An Air Raid review has definitely been one of the big missing pieces on this site for a while, though until you had a Harmony cart it was more than understandable. Looking forward to that and the others. :) @mbd36: I came to like Bad Dudes quite a bit more once I learned the game enou...

Re: Games the VGC Didn't Review (Yet), for Systems Nearing Completion

Thanks for turning me on to Moto Roader. It's a fairly inexpensive title and I love top-down racers. You're welcome! I know you didn't fall in love with the game, but I was glad to see it reviewed. :) Meanwhile I've made a small update to the first post, as I just learned that the ROM to the ultra-...

Re: 2019/9/20: Jaguar: JagZombies (CD), Saucer Wars (CD)

Please don't hesitate to call out substandard homebrew! I'm all for supporting homebrew, don't get me wrong, but too often there's a bit of a love-fest going on, where people cheer on any effort just because it's giving them something new for their platform of choice. If the game isn't fun or feels ...

Re: Favorite AVGN episodes/moments and why?

The Big Rigs episode had me laughing, as did Plumbers Don't Wear Ties. I enjoy his reactions to completely left-field things like we see in those two games. His "middle period" videos are probably my favorite, but some of the recent ones are amusing. (I went back and watched some of the ea...

Re: Is there a website out there that has detailed release dates by region for Atari 2600 games?

I am egar to find out if about a dozen A2600 games where ever released in Europe or whether they were U.S only. Since as a European, I would rather have a European copy of the game. The website you want for this is Atarimania: http://www.atarimania.com/pgemainsoft.awp?type=G&system=2 It's got p...

Re: 2019/9/14: Genesis: James Pond: Underwater Agent, Talespin

Oh, man, TaleSpin. That game is just a drag . I wouldn't even give it a D, personally -- I found it to be a totally joyless experience. It's really poorly designed, too. There's one boss where as far as I can tell, the only way to win is to brute-force it by wailing away and taking hits, because a c...

Re: What was your best goodwill video game find?

My wife got at least $1000 worth of video game stuff at a church barn sale for $20. No idea whose collection it was. Nowadays I suppose it'd be worth more like $3-4k. Saturn RPGs CIB, Mega Man Legends 2 CIB, Tron Bonne (disc only), Mario Party 2 and 3...the list goes on.

Re: 2019/9/11: Intellivision: Beamrider, Spiker Super Pro Volleyball

New Intellivision reviews, awesome! Always happy to see those. :) I agree that Spiker is a very classy, well-done game -- a fitting swan song for the system. Pretty tough, too, or it seemed that way from the time I spent with it. BTW the Blue Sky Rangers are re-releasing Spiker! New artwork, 100% au...
