Re: The Problem with Soulslike Games.

Games like Nioh, pretty as they are, lacked the atmosphere of the Souls games, so they felt more like pretenders than anything else. True. To quote Zero Punctuation's review, "Oh boy, I wonder where the next level will be set! Will it be a Japanese village, a forest, a cave, or a Japanese vill...

The Problem with Soulslike Games.

I don't think it'd come as any surprise if I said that I'm crazy about the Dark Souls games. Now that the trilogy is finished and they don't plan on making more, I'm forced to try and get my Soulsian fix elsewhere--which isn't all that hard, seeing as how Dark Souls has literally created an all new ...

I don't know if that warrants its own section of the website, but maybe a new icon would be good. Maybe for games that can only be played on the Kinect, there could be an icon like, say...a toilet?

Re: Games with sections that almost ruin it

How does invaders in DS work? Are they other players online? If that’s so, it seems like it would make an already super hard game impossible—fighting brutal enemies with a human enemy thrown in on top of it. What’s the benefit? They can be both online players and computer controlled NPCs. There are...

Re: Games with sections that almost ruin it

Iron Keep in Dark Souls 2. Tough enemies + bad footing + FREAKING LAVA + one of the areas where you're most likely to get invaded + the mid-level bonfire being hidden behind one of the game's worst bosses = a level that almost made me rage quit more than once. Yes, Dark Souls is supposed to be hard,...

Re: What Games Are We Thankful For?

The Donkey Kong Country trilogy on SNES, particularly Diddy's Kong Quest. Those games were my early childhood and still hold up amazingly well today. Kingdom Hearts. These games were my teenage...hood. They taught me that it was possible to care about a game's story and not just the gameplay. The Ta...

Re: Code Vein (PS4)

Hmm. Speaking of companions, they seem a little imbalanced. At least in the early parts of the game. Having one is essential since the tendency to get ganged up on by multiple enemies is a lot higher than in Dark Souls, and you need them to distract them. But you only have two choices, Louis and Yak...

Code Vein (PS4)

And so, my quest to find more Dark Souls now that the trilogy is finished continues! At first I wasn't impressed by the trailers and gameplay I'd seen. It looked like just another Dark Souls clone (a la Nioh or The Surge) but with anime graphics this time. But then I saw some really good reviews of ...

How was the book?

It was okay. I actually think I reviewed it here.

The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings (Enhanced Edition)

Not having a computer that can play the first Witcher game, and having read the first book in the series the games are based on, I decided to take a leap of faith and start with the second game. And let me tell you, any game that starts with you waking up next to a gorgeous, naked redhead can only h...
