Re: Streets of Rage 4 is Coming

I watched the video and had mixed feelings. I admire the passion for the old games but I'm concerned about how slavishly they are copying Streets of Rage 2 (even though it's my favorite console beat-em-up ever) - ideally they should be either adding something new or casting a wider net for inspirati...

Re: Scaled down arcade cabinets

About a month ago our workplace put a 1-Up Galaga machine in our breakroom and about five of us have been playing regularly, with other random employees giving it a go once or twice out of curiosity before moving on. There was a battle for the high score when it was hanging around the 100k - 150k po...

Re: 2019/10/29: Nintendo Switch: Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

Finally sat down and played Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night for about an hour and a half last night. I didn't get very far (I probably spent a good half-hour looking for a double-jump ability that shows up later on after I couldn't reach some out-of-the-way places on the ship) but it's everything ...

Re: Physical Release Thread

Any of these worth getting? Perusing the videos it looks like that Freedom game is a Sonic knock off. I played Momodora for an hour or so and thought it was a pretty decent Metroidvania/2D Dark Souls game with a charming art style. I heard it's not very long, either - between 5-10 hours from what I...

I have a long held confession to make, I do have autism so that may explain all my problems on the site and is also 30 years of age sad face. This may explain why I cause so much drama on the forums. Hey Sonicx9, I'm a bit older than you but I wasn't formally diagnosed with autism until four years ...

Re: The Horror Movie Lovers Thread

Anyone see The Lighthouse? The movie came out last week and is from the creator of The Witch. The interesting part of the movie is that it is shot in black and white and looks like a movie from the 1920's-30's. The movie stars Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe and is a crazy trip. You basically get...

Re: The Horror Movie Lovers Thread

Freaks (1932) : From Tod Browning, director of Bela Lugosi's Dracula (1931). Not a horror film until the final 15 minutes but compelling all the same. Most of the movie just follows the everyday life of sideshow "freaks", their friendships and romances, in surprisingly sensitive and empat...

Re: Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

Funny thing is though than Metroidvania never seemed to really take off. There just are not that many games I know of. Maybe I am wrong. There were the games on the DS and Gameboy Advance. These handhelds are old now. Axion Verge is a recent'ish game. Hollow Knight is recent. Ori and Blind Forest i...

Re: Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

Just picked up the PS4 version. Metriodvania is probably my favorite genre and Symphony of the Night was my favorite Metriodvania before Hollow Knight came along (although I still need to play some of the GBA/DS entries in the Castlevania series).

Great band for the fall. I'd add Katatonia and Paradise Lost and some of the Opeth records (Blackwater Park, Damnation, Ghost Reveries). Sisters of Mercy, too.
